First of all condolences to the family. It’s heartbreaking to lose young life The only way to solve this from happening again is to sue sue and sue Charge the Scotty rider with homicide, sue him and make him a pauper. Sue the city for allowing steps on the road and also sue the shop keeper for extending steps to the road. Finally put a barricade so scooty is not able to make U turn in the middle of the road ever again. Kurigalu Saar kurigalu

All who own a 2 wheeler please drive on the left side of the road... Do not overtake trucks and don't try to pass your vehicle in between 2 vehicles specially Zomato.. Swiggy and almost all the online delivery guys they dive so fast and they don't follow the rules... Please go through the RTO rules before you drive a 2 wheeler. 2 wheeler is good and comes handy for all our needs but its not safe... You need to understand that it's a means of transport and the road is not a race track. Please drive at the speed of 40 that is enough to reach your destination orelse you will reach the permanent destination. It's ok to be late than called late befor your name.

If you see the wrong side driver is the real culprit ...should be put behind bars or fined .. Even for a small distance or even a few meters ,please do not drive on the wrong side .. Please try judge from the on coming traffic too .. if you are crossing are you visible to the other driver .. Please know that inside the city ..never cross that 30 to 40 Kms per speed in India .. only place where you can drive at 80 KMPH is the highway outside city limits

Several factors contributed to this accident. 1. The steps of the shop are right on the road. Its kind of road encroachment. 2. Bike rider is too fast. Even after colliding he does not reduce the speed. 3. The scooter rider crossing the road is not a person, its a donkey. 4. The cut on the road is at a wrong place because vehicles are passing at high speed.

The spot where accident happened the road has a deep curve and it's impossible to see any any vehicle waiting there. Here too an scooter was there and inorder to avoid the collision the bike rider manages to pass but lost control and met with the accident. The authorities should place an divider in that place in order avoid future accidents.

Safety tips: as long as your front view is not clear till 500 to 600 meters reduce the speed below 35KMS because one need that much time for emergency break!!!!!! anything can be come across at the curve either cow ,dog or an human being without notice and it will end up in tragedy. Second tip : attentiveness Third : observation these are the few rules of international driving. Lane discipline we do not see in Mangalore at al, trucks are moving in speed lane on highways at 15 to 20 KMS speed and small vehicles are moving in high speed at highway because truck and buses never give a way to speeding vehicle and our district administration does not know these rules at all to implement.

My personal view is that, the mistake is not of the shop owner but i think of the city corporation. The shops were there even before the road widening was done. City corporation did not want to spend more money by paying compensation to acquire these properties and hence did not take over that property for building footpath or having enough dead area from edge of the road. This is true to most of the properties in that stretch in that area. Atleast now the corporation should wake up to have enough distance between road and the properties. Also they should reduce the number of divider openings to avoid multiple crossings. It is also hi-time that Indian govt and RTO come up with speed limits for 2 wheelers as many of the youngsters driving these high capacity engine motorcycles think it is their birth right to drive fast. It is very inhuman behavior of the activa guy who caused the accident to just leave these guys and run away from the spot. He should be booked and his DL cancelled. Note: I am not the owner of the property. I am a resident in this area for the last 30 years and hence have observed the developments that have happened.

whoever it is ,a man or a woman who is a scooty rider is definately cause of this ghastly accident. He crossed the road from wrong side first and stood in middle of the road .So bikers were not able to stop all of a sudden or change the side so had to take the middle side and dashed to shop materials.who gave them licence to keep things at the side ,almost on road, first ,and rider didnt fix the belt from his helmet so the rider had to jump off.People sometimes go with bike on such busy road with high speed. Please drive with moderate speed on busy roads, think others too want reach home fast like you.otherwise a tomorrow will never come to you.RIP.to the deceased soul heartfelt sympthies to the family.scooty rider should be taken to task while he went off without caring and was the reason for riding wrong side and stying in middle of the road where bikers had no chance to avoid the accident.

If don't wear helmet in right way we might avoid fines, but we may not save our life. Let's stop discussing who is right and who is wrong. Kindly use good quality helmets and always use the straps and lock it so that helmet won't be thrown off the head. Stay save, Drive Save.

Pree, mangalore, On all comments, if any one is a friend of the scooter rider in this forum, it must be you. You said, that is dangerous curve but don't you think that the scooter rider also should know that?? The divider is wide enough that the scooter could have tried to cross the road almost when road gets straighter where you could see better? Even if she went straight, from the point of her entry to road, she could have crossed but she took to reduce the distance of her journey while crossing, which is non sense. You always cross the road (either by foot or on vehicle) as straight as possible, which will reduce the time that you're blocking the road. Did you see the rider checked for the oncoming vehicle, No, there was so pause it was just smooth ride as if she is the only road user. Agreed the Bike rider did not had Helmet and he was indeed speeding to that particular road. Someone talked about inner lane (inner lane is supposed to be fast lane, unless you live in Riyadh where you drive on left hand side), then there is no wrong in that speed at all!!. The point is whether this accident could have happened if NOT this scooter rider takes the road crossing for granted. Speed played a factor here but it is not the speed alone, because if this scooter was not there in that spot, this accident would have not occurred. If the bike lost control and hits someone, then speed could have been blames but he even avoided hitting the scooter. The scooter rider must be ashamed for even not stopping to check the road user who tried to avoid hitting her. Even the car on the opposite side stopped but she did not thought so. BTW, I am not a friend of bike rider.

Agreed with someone. Watched again for that so called Helmet. The bike rider indeed had helmet. As per as law, he is not at fault either. He wasn't speeding that he could not avoided hitting the scooter or struggling to turn the corner. It was the main road and naturally have the right of way. It is the rider/driver comes to the main road should proceed with caution (in this instance the scooter rider) unfortunately she did not even bother to stop and watch. To make it worse, she took the blindest spot and longest route to cross the road.

@ Ok let’s assume it was not the scooter at that spot. Instead there was possibly a big pothole or big stone or broken down car or fallen tree or road block barrier or a stray cow or a dog instead. Something that does not have sense to act and can’t move. Even then the same fate would have been for the bike rider. And it’s only because of over speeding when there is not traffic.

There are many who are blaming the Scooter. Its absolutely wrong. When you are crossing a blind curve and unfortunately suddenly come across two speeding bikes. There is no other option to but to stop right away. The scooter had to give right of way to the 2nd bike. It was the bike which was at higher speed than u should be on a curve, lacked situational awareness of the the blind curve, too high speed to brake efficiently (you can see how much distance was available from the first view of seeing the obstruction and collision point) and on top of that, wearing the helmet without properly strapping it on.

I disagree with your comment. If anyone is crossing the road he/she has to stop and make sure there is no on-coming traffic then move. This scooter guy didn't even bother to stop. He later realised his mistake & stopped at the middle of the road. Here the scooter rider is at fault for causing an accident. By the video clip understand that bike rider was riding at speed but defiantly not over speed otherwise he would have had head-on collision with scooter itself. Only mistake bike rider has done is he has not buckle locked the helmet which could have saved his life.

Not completely correct. If you see the first part of the CCTV footage, when the scooter decides to cross the road, we do not see then bike approaching on the road. So its seems absolutely safe to cross. The bike appears just a few seconds later and is speeding, but the remember the CCTV is at a height, hence the Scooter may still not see the bike before its just in front of him. So what can you do at that instance? You just have to stop and hope that the other person decides to brake or take the right of way. The scooter is in no position or helpless at this point. The accident happened only because of over speeding and bad road design

Here both riders wore helmet but did not tie helmet strap!. must tie helmet strap. (Buy at least ISI certified helmet. ECE DOT certification helmets are more safer!) Should not speeding at junctions, village/city limits or divider openings. any time that activa rider type people may come at you. At last while buying bike or any vehicle conciser safety as first priority. I mean to say please buy ABS equipped bike. it maybe Duke or any other brand. and last but not least Learn to use brakes at emergency situations. If you having Non ABS bike then should not slam hard on brake leaver instead leaver should be squeezed to avoid wheel locking. Thank you.. ride safe guys

before you jump on to conclusions of who is right & who is wrong. let me brief few things here. first of all road itself is built unsafely here few things here on this intersection is obstructive & unscientific that compromises safety of vehicles & pedastrians 1. three deviders ie: gap in median on curved road where two roads intersect to the spot. 2. plants on devider has overgrown n it become blind spot 3. even though it's double road at his spot road becomes narrow n there is no footpath on either side of road - the shops building joins from roads edge. and pedastrians has to walk on the same road. imagine if some was walking there. 4. shops soda bottles are kept on road . 6. no speadbreakers installed 7. the concrete roads on other side of this curve as uneven gaps in middle which too is dangerous for 2 wheelers hope this reaches to our traffic authority & they will fix it very soon , i urge team daiji world to review his spot n report to authority to fix it. i am saying this with my own bad expirience in the past at same spot. but other side .. just like ktm rider , i was coming from bajpe.. to mangalore. car coming from left road of inland building .. entered road suddenly.. n he stopped to take u trn. i applied brake suddenly n scooter skided went sliding n hit the car. fortunately i escaped with minor injuries inwas wearingy helmet with straps on. few things that we can learn from this accident 1. always invest & wear good riding gears & helmet rightly with straps on if you notice riders helmet fell off as he wasnt strapped it on. 2. slowdown on entering intersection like this. even if you riding on main road or entering from side roads. 3. use horn & pass lights to alert on coming traffic.

Correct ,This was because of plants in divider was overgrown & there was no visibility for Bike rider & there is no fault of Scooter who was about to cross the road. His overspeeding was a mistake

The step near the shop is illegal + the divider has bushes which create a blind spot. And most of all the culprit is the scooterist who can be charged on 2 counts first he crossed the road by cutting the lane instead he should have gone straight and then taken a sharp right two he ran away from the spot without helping the victim.......public please help in nabbing the scooter fellow.

Very sad news. When anyone is in trouble, nobody comes to the rescue on time. The scooter man escaped and did not come to help the person who has saved his life by avoiding him. God save the cruel world

It is disgusting to see comments on Instagram like "speeding"mella pole"" without realising the biggest fault of the scooter rider. She stopped entered from wrong side, without checking the onside traffic, stopped in wrong place, is she stopped in the edge of the road (where the divider is, the biker could have gone in straight line and avoided this accident) and to make the things worse, did not even had the courtesy to check on the injured. Her license should be cancelled (if any) because she lacks road sense.

The scooter that came in between abruptly stops resulting in the bike taking diversion. Thereafter the scooter proceeds slowly as if nothing happened and not concerned. Saare jahaan se achcha….. By the way our engineers have left the dividers partially open out of concern for the cats to cross the road.

It's sad. The bush that has overgrown on the divider clearly blocked the view of the incoming bike. This curve looks deadly. Not sure if the rider could've controlled the speed of his bike. Anyway get well soon.

Who is that idiot rides the scooter?? Not only responsible for this accident he or she did not even had the courtesy to stop and help the guy. These type of people should be arrested. Crossing the road from wrong side and causing the accident but still lack the humanity to check on injured.

Even though the bike rider was speeding, the scooter rider is at fault, he was going in the middle of the road, what type of crossing is it. The scooter rider is responsible, he just escaped from the spot. Has to be detained by the police.

When we look now it looks illegal. But fact is this shop existed way before this unscientific road was built. When this double road was built they should have cleared both side for footpath. But you know for MCC all it matters is just finish the project and become rich. Example: Smart Bus Stand. Why do we have to spend lakhs on this kind of bus stand. It neither protectors ppl from sun or rain. Coming to this issue, the place were this mishap happened is blind spot. One who cross the road and one who pass this junction should be cautions.. Can't say it is fault of Scooter, the person panicked when the speedy bike came front of him/her.
