Mumbai, Aug 7: The delegation of metro-based Konkan Bhasha Mandal – Maharastra Unit met cabinet minister Suresh H Shetty at his residence here on Friday August 6 and presented a memorandum urging the state to set up Konkani Bhavan and Konkani Academy in the metro.
The delegation urged the minister to convince CM Ashok Chavan to approve the proposal in recognition to the contributions of Konkans’ to various fields.
Shetty assured the delegation that the proposal will be brought to the notice of CM, concerned ministers and department officials.
The local corporator Clive Dias, Konkan Bhasha Mandal – Maharastra Unit president P N Shanbagh, vice president John D’ Silva, honorary secretary Lawrence D’ Souza Kamani, joint treasurer Leo Fernandes, Walter D’ Souza Jerimeri and others were present in the delegation.
