Daijiworld Media Network - Kundapur (SP)

Kundapur, Apr 20: A mechanic who studied only up to the fifth standard and works to repair vehicles, has invented a new device that has surprised the people.

The mechanic in question, 54-year-old Babu Poojary from Hemmady, who happens to be a mechanic by profession, has invented a machine that is powered by electricity for filtering sand. His machine has made the task of separating big size stone pieces from the sand easily.

Babu is basically from Nada Guddeangady. He operates a small mechanic shop at Hemmady. His invention makes it possible to filter sand without being dependent on labourers.

In normal course, a minimum of three labourers would be needed to filter sand. However, if this machine is used, a single person can attend to the same quantum of work. The work of the labourer is just to pour sand on the mesh. In the past too, some people have built such machines but none of them were as successful as the current machine to sort bigger sand particles and deposit them on the ground.

Babu has been a mechanic since he was 13. He has been repairing the vehicles. He has shown that even a mechanic, if he has interest, can do wonders in indifferent fields.
