Police raid on rave party at Hassan - Most revellers from Mangaluru, Udupi

Daijiworld Media Network - Hassan (SP)

Hassan, Apr 13: During a police raid on a rave party arranged in Hassan district, it was revealed that a group from coastal Karnataka had chosen to take part in that party as night curfew has been imposed in Mangaluru, Udupi, Manipal etc as a measure to control spread of coronavirus infection.

The party was held at Honkarahalli Resort in Alur taluk, Hassan district, on Saturday night. The party was on when a police team led by district superintendent of police, Srinivas Gowda, conducted the raid. As many as 134 young men and women as well as liquor bottles and intoxicating substances were found there.

In the cities, normally the youngsters seek to visit pubs or resort parties during the weekends. But because corona-enforced curfew, the youngsters planned a party in the Malnad region.

Most of the 134 people the police found at the party during the raid were unmarried. During their questioning, they revealed that they had come from different places like Mangaluru, Udupi, Bengaluru etc. The officials said that many were so much intoxicated that they were not aware of the raid even after long time after the police entered the resort. Many were found to be partly clad. Several of them pleaded with the police to let them go as they are married and had come here to enjoy in the resort on account of holiday. Some were seen urging the police not to book them as they face the prospect of losing jobs.

It is said that booking for the party was online. Those who book get the locations through WhatsApp messages and everyone is issued tags so as to ensure that others do not come there. As parties are organized in forest region or rural estates, the police normally do not get to know about them.

Out of 134 people found, 131 were granted bail. Estate owner Gagan, Soni from Murugeshpalya Bengaluru, and Pankaj from Bannerghatta have been detailed for further questioning after producing them in the court, said Alur police inspector Venkatesh.

Really absurd especially when kumb mela is happening and noone is bothered about covid there. And more absurd is that instead of booking them for their offenses if any, they are talking about married unmarried and other personal stuff. Any one who is an adult can party without anyone's permission. The cops have no right into their personal jurisdiction. If they have consumed contraband then yes they can be held accountable.

Police action is really absurd. Did this youngster crowd, in any way has damaged any body's property or given any non sense behaviour to the public. It seems, it is only police can have party as they have power, not the middle class youngsters. Police action is disgusting, as most of the police lack exposure.

During this covid time what is the need for party? These youngsters party and go back home to parents who are aged. If these youngsters get covid most recover what about the parents? 45 is considered as vulnerable group. 100 people are there when parties etc are not allowed why do they want to break the rules?
