Early reports by news channel NTV said that 15 people had been resuscitated by emergency rescue staff following the crush at the Love Parade event, which reportedly occurred when a security control point was overwhelmed by festival goers.

At least another 15 people were injured, reports said.

The Love Parade is one of Europe's largest electronic music events, which originated in Berlin and has now been spun off into other cities worldwide. It frequently attracts tens of thousands of participants.
