Oman: Three Asians held in Hamriya on Charges of Kidnapping


Muscat, Jul 25 (Times of Oman): The ROP Criminal Investigation Department in Muscat and the Anti-Crime Department arrested three Asians last Sunday for kidnapping an Asian and holding him on ransom in their house in Al Hamriya in Muscat Governorate.

The Baushar Police Station received a call from the brother of the victim informing them that an unknown person called him and told him that his brother was being held hostage and will only be released once he transfers a certain sum of money through a bank account.

After investigation, the three accused were arrested and the case has been referred to the public prosecution department.

The victim said that he was in
Al Khuwair when he got kidnapped by three people who beat him and took him to their house in Al Hamriya locality.

Beware of tricksters

Policemen at Seeb Station have arrested a Tanzanian national, F.S.F, 38-years of age, for swindling and fraud in Wadi Al Lawami of the wilayat of Seeb. The Seeb Police Station had already received information that the defendant was involved in fraud activities by deluding people that he can find them jobs as well as help them in their married life. For this help he demanded payment.

In a similar case, another Tanzanian, S.M.S, was arrested for committing fraud. He was sentenced to a period of one year and was also asked to pay a compensation of RO2,000 to the victim. After the completion of the sentence, he will be expelled from the country.
