Bahrain: TV Puts Spotlight on Jobless Expatriates

Bahrain, Jul 24 (GDN): AN audience of more than 1,000 people is expected to attend the filming of a TV show highlighting the plight of unemployed expatriates across the GCC.

The programme is being shot in Bahrain, but will be broadcast across two episodes around the world on Kairali Television.

Called Pravasa Lokham (Success in Expat Life), the three-hour talk show will feature the views of diplomats, businessmen, community leaders and expatriates.

It is being spearheaded by the Falcon Toastmasters Club and will specifically highlight the condition of Indians, mainly from Kerala.

"Pravasa Lokham, one of the first television programmes of its kind, is based on the noble intention of identifying and helping jobless and displaced expatriates in Gulf countries," said co-ordinator Kamal Mohiyuddin.

"In this discussion we will analyse the realities and solutions for expat life.

"During the past 10 years, thousands of people's destiny has changed with the help of this programme, which is indeed a nostalgic bridge connecting millions of Malayalees to their roots back home."

The show will be filmed at Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam (BKS), Segaiya, on Thursday from 7.30pm.

Anchor of the show will be P T Kunhu Mohammed, a former MP and award-winning film director who has scripted and produced films in Kerala.

A seminar on Kerala Developments: Contributions of Non-Resident Indians and Expatriates will be held the following day at the same venue, from 6pm.

Thanks to the GCC countries that facilitate Expatriates to visit the Gulf countries on Visitors visas in search of suitable job opportunities by taking their own risk of visiting the Gulf region at their own accord. Employers have the choice and privilege of having the Expatriates at their door step with their physical presence so that the prospective employers can interview them and engage them on the spot if the individual candidates are suitable. India will always have abundance of Expatriates travelling to different destinations of the world in search of jobs.

Majority of the Indians have always strived to seek job opportunities by assuring a honest job. Hopefully global economic situation will improve steadily and that honest Indians will find suitable job opportunities wherever they go with their credentials and potentials. We do not know how and why Falcon Toastmasters are getting involved in this episode, however they must have done their own home work.
