Udupi: CME on Dravyaguna for AYUSH teachers held at SDM College of Ayurveda

Udupi, Mar 24: Department of Dravyaguna, Sri DharmasthalaManjunatheswara college of Ayurveda, Udupi, conducted 6 days of CME programme for AYUSH teachers on Dravyagunavinjana from March 15 to 20 sponsored by Ministry of AYUSH, government of India, New Delhi and facilitated by Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidhyapeeth, New Delhi.

The inaugural programme started with invocation by Dr Anju Balakrishnan, PG scholar, Dr Ravi Rao Sorake, professor, Dean, faculty of ISM, SGT University Gurgaon, was the chief guest of the programme.

Dr Shrikanth P, HOD department of Dravyaguna,Chief organizing secretary, delivered welcome speech. Dr Suma V Mallya, associate professor, department of Dravyaguna and organizing secretary, gave a brief introduction about the topic.

The programme was presided over by Dr Veerakumar K, Deputy dean of academics SDMCA Udupi.

Dr Mohammed Faisal, associate professor, department of Dravyaguna and organizing secretary delivered vote of thanks. The programme was compered by Dr Aiswaria Sasidharan, PG scholar.

The 6 days program was engaged by various scientific sessions, interaction with research scholars and field surveys related to medicinal plants. There were 12 experts from various fields of science and research as resource persons who trained 27 Ayurveda teachers of Dravyagunavinjana from various parts of the country in their area of expertise like Pharmacovigilance, ADR reporting, sustainable good cultivation practices, collection, preservation and utilization of medicinal herbs based on geographical distribution.

Field survey to Kunjarigiri hills and medicinal plant identification competition added colors to the CME programme.

Valedictory program was conducted on the March 20. Programme began with invocation by Dr Anju Balakrishnan, PG scholar. Dr Mohammed Faisal, associate professor and organizing secretary of the programme delivered welcome speech. The proceedings of scientific session was reported by Dr Suma V Mallya, organizing secretary of the programme Chief guest of the valedictory function is Dr Manoj Kumar N, Professor and head of department of Dravyaguna ,Vaidyaratnam P S Varier Ayurveda college Kottakkal, Kerala. Dr Mamatha K V, Principal in-charge, delivered the presidential address.

Dr Niranjan Rao, Dean PG and PhD studies; Dr Suchetha Kumari, dean Academics, made the occasion gracious with their presence. Dr Shrikath P, chief organizing secretary of the programme, delivered vote of thanks.

The programme was compered by Dr Lachita C Varaha, PG scholar. Dr Niveditha Shetty, assistant professor department of Dravyaguna, Dr Thejaswi I Naik, 27 trainees and all PG scholars of department of Dravyaguna, actively participated in the conduction of the programme and made it successful.
