Dammam: Cornich Blue Cricketers Lift YMA Super Cup-2010

Dammam, Jul 19: Cornich Blue Cricketers (CBC) defeated Blue Lines – Jubail by 18 runs to lift the Yermal Welfare Association (YWA) Super Cup – 2010, knock-out cricket tournament which was played at Rakha Grounds here on July 16 Friday. 

The CBC team won the toss and elected to bat first. Openers Sachin and Niyaz Kaizer scored 33 runs for the first wicket. After Sachin got out left hander Mohsin joined Kaizer. At the score of 42 CBC lost their second wicket in the form of Kaizer and also they lost a crucial wicket of all-rounder Santhosh in a short while.

At this situation all-rounder Nizam joined Mohsin and played some responsible innings and put on 21 runs for the fourth wicket. At the end CBC were able to reach a commendable target of 100 / 4 in allotted over.



In reply Blue Line lost their opener Asir too early hen the score of 2 and at 16 they lost their second wicket lost the third one at 18. On the other hand non- striker Shameem’s efforts was in vain as all other batsman failed to support him.

They only managed to score 82 runs, highest run getter being Shameem (39).  Nizaam and Santhosh performed brilliantly at bowling for CBC team.

The final match was followed by a prize distribution ceremony. President of Yermal Welfare Association, Aziz Bava Shabu, welcomed the gathering and presented detailed report on the activities of the association

The chief guest and sponsor of the tournament, Abdul Hameed , Real Tech Industries, Jubail, awarded trophies to the winners and runners-up teams.

Nizam was awarded the Man of the match for his excellent bowling and batting performances. Shoiab of Expertise Industries was named the Best Batsman of the tournament, Nizaam of CBC, the Best Bowler, Sachin of CBC , the Best Keeper and Farooq of Blue Lines the Best Out Fielder.  Shameem of Blue Line was named ‘Man of the Tournament’ for this out- standing performances through-out the tournament.

YWA president Ahmed Bava Iddinabba, presented mementos to the sponsors, invitee guests and appreciated the hard works of all the members of YWA and the support received from other associated members for the tournament.

Mohammed Haneef Patel, Madhav Amin, Ravi Karkera, Ivan Pinto, Mansoor Ahmed, Ibrahim Mohammed and MH Hameed among others were present.

Finally, YWA general secretary Abdul Aziz proposed the vote of thanks. He thanked all sponsors, supporters, participating teams, and their members for their whole- hearted co-operation and help in conducting a charity cricket tournament.
