Udupi: DC receives 119 applications from residents during village stay

Udupi, Mar 20: Deputy commissioner (DC) G Jagadeesha had a village stay at Kabbinale, Hebri taluk in which he received 119 applications from local people on Saturday.

The DC said that it is the third village stay by the deputy commissioner in the village meant to solve the problems of local people who otherwise cover long distances for their needs.

He said that the state cabinet has decided that the Kasturirangan report will not be implemented. The state government has submitted an affidavit to the Supreme Court to exempt certain survey numbers from deemed forest areas. The title deeds and permission for sites will be possible after obtaining the court orders. No Huli Yojane is planned by the district administration, he said.

Rs two lac are released from natural calamities fund to repair Konkanabettu school compound and repairs to all schools and Anganwadis in the district. The PRED engineer should submit a proposal if more funds are required, he said.

The local people said that the forest department has objected to widen the road from Kabbinale to Muniyala and to Jio to lay network cables. But the forest department officials denied it and said that the concerned departments can obtain no objection letters.

The DC said that local rice cannot be distributed in the ration shops as farmers have not supplied it. Local government officials were present. The DC distributed facilities to various beneficiaries. He took part in the public lunch and held discussions with students of Konkanarabettu school.

Awareness on Covid was held in the programme held at Kabbinale, Hebri on Saturday. Thermal scanning and wearing of masks was compulsory. A health camp was held at the spot. Local people, the DC, additional DC and other officials who took part in the programme got themselves examined. More than 25 people gave samples for RTPCR tests. Vehicles were arranged for more than 40 people for vaccination.

District health officer Dr Sudhir Sooda, taluk health officer Krishnananda, Covid nodal officer Dr Prashanth Bhat, special officer Dr Premananda and officials of the health department were present.
