Maradona May be in Charge of Argentina Till 2014

Buenos Aires, Jul 16 (DPA): Argentina national coach and football legend Diego Maradona was expected to be asked Thursday to stay on for the next World Cup in 2014 despite a performance seen by many as disappointing in the recent tournament in South Africa.

The president of the Argentinian football association, Julio Grondona, was to make the offer in a private meeting, his spokesman was quoted as saying by the Clarin newspaper Wednesday.

Maradona, a star player in Argentina's 1986 World Cup victory, appeared distraught after his team lost 0-4 to Germany in the quarterfinals of this year's competition and has hardly spoken to the media since his return to Buenos Aires.
