Udupi: Municipal council has failed to provide security to civic workers – Sunder Master

Udupi, Mar 17: “The municipal council has completely failed to provide security to civic works. It has hesitated to register a case against the suspects of assault. It now shows that they have done a big job by cancelling the trade license of the suspect's shop. It is only an eyewash. The council is not concerned about the civic workers,” said Dalit Sangharsha Samiti district chief convener Sunder Master.

A protest was held under the leadership of Karnataka Dalit Sangharsha Samiti Ambedkar logic Udupi in front of Udupi municipal council office on Tuesday condemning the assault on civic worker and alleging that the council indulges in repression.

“Not even one leader of the ruling party was present when the complaint was being registered. The council president who ridiculed our organization should apologise,” he urged.

“The municipal council is drowned in corruption. It is misusing reserved funds and health cards issued in the name of dead people. The money meant for the collection of trash does not get evenly distributed. The wards that are running at a loss are unjustly assigned to poor women’s self-help groups,” he said.

Organizing convener Shamraj Birthi, Parameshwar Uppoor, Manjunath Balkudru, Shivananda Moodabettu, Shanker Chendkala, Sundari Puttur, Ramesh Kanchan, taluk panchayat member Dr Sunita Shetty, professor Cyril Mathais, Hussain Kodibengre, Congress leaders Janardhan Bhandarkar and Ganesh Nergi took part in the protests.
