Belgaum Puts BJP-Sena Alliance under Strain

Pune, Jul 13 (PTI) : The flare-up in the vexed Maharashtra-Karnataka boundary dispute appears to have put leaders of the saffron alliance in a piquant situation with the Shiv Sena on Tuesday asking the state BJP leaders to make their stand clear on the issue.

The flare-up in the vexed Maharashtra-Karnataka boundary dispute appears to have put leaders of the saffron alliance in a piquant situation with the Shiv Sena on Tuesday asking the state BJP leaders to make their stand clear on the issue.

Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray demanded BJP central leadership rein in Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, whom he accused of using repressive measures to silence the protest of Marathi speaking population in the state under the BJP rule.

Thackeray, who was addressing the media, faced a volley of questions regarding conflict of interests between the two states vis-a-vis the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance. He maintained that breaking the over two-decade-long bond between the partners was not the solution to the boundary dispute.

"I appeal to the BJP central leadership to rein in the Karnataka Chief Minister. The Maharashtra unit of BJP too should now make their stand clear on the inter-state boundary dispute," he said, adding the issue of injustice to Marathi people in Karnataka went beyond the ambit of the alliance.

Thackeray's demand for giving the status of Union territory to the disputed area of Belgaum in Karnataka almost coincided with the announcement by Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan in the state legislature today when he told the House that he would press for it with the Centre.

udhav thakerey and his terrorist party shivsena is terrorizing Karnataka.
Belgaum is belongs to Karnataka and it will never be given to Maharashtra. I remember long ago pramod mutalik was supporting MES and I think he will do the same for now. Karnataka should not be handed over to Maharashtra. We lost Kasaragod to Kerala and now its belgaum's turn.
Mahajan report should be implemented soon. Let's defeat terrorist udhav thakerey and his goonda sena.

Finally Belgaum should be d as NATIONAL GRAVEYARD, because the boundary problem will never be solved till Maharastra and Karnataka will remain as India & Pakistan. Problems will continue, fights will be regular, murders and deaths will take place off and on & time and again. We need graveyards, Shamshans and cemetries somewhere close to the state boundary. So why not name Belgaum as KMOB( Karnataka/ Maharastra Occupied Belgaum) like POK ( Pakistan Occupied Kashmir)?

Prior to changing the status of disputed Marathi speaking villages in Karnataka, Central govt.should take Mumbai under Union territory. where all outsiders are troubled by Thackerays. If I have not mistaken Mumbai was a separate state prior to 1963.

The issue is not Shiva Sena. They are in a tight spot actually. The People in Belgaum area are majority Marathi speaking. They do not necessarily hate Karnataka but, they wanted to be with Maharashtra right from days of states formation. And now if Karnataka uses force, as a consequence of the incidents, any one in their situation feels who the heck is Karnataka to force my place to be associated with some one else and who the heck is Karnataka to discipline them. How did Goa form statehood. because, Konkan sepaking people were in majority and wanted identity and association. That is the same thing happening here. This is reality. The issue that Karnatak has with other states is quite different from this issue. This is reality the people in the border areas DO NOT want to be they do not feel the association with Karnataka. They feel being forced into.

I am not an astrologer, still I can predict something worst is going to happen in this world. People started acting like Rakshasas from the ancient age, only the difference is modern day Rakshasas neither sucking the blood nor tasting the human flesh, but, it is exactly the same.

    culture, ..................

should this incident happend in the soil of Maha, the police of that state would dealt seriously.State BJP govt is soft on this particular issue due to the fact of political compluson.Like these narrow minded leaders and parties are threat to Indian integrity.Central Govt take strong decisive stand on such political parties which divides Indians on above said issues.
