Mangaluru: International Women's Day celebrated at Dr PD Pai-PS Pai GFGCM

Mangaluru, Mar 8: Dr P Dayananda Pai-P Sathish Pai Government First Grade College Mangalore's Internal Quality Assurance Cell and Women's Forum under the aegis of the department of collegiate education celebrated International Women's Day-2021 here on Monday, March 8.

Mayor Premananda Shetty along with other dignitaries inaugurated the programme. Speaking during the occasion, the mayor said, "Today, women are in the mainstream of society, they are representing various fields and have even achieved success in their tasks. While the MCC disbursing the benefits of government will give priority to women, that may be in housing schemes or other benefits. More focus will be given to the empowerment of women."

He also said that the small loan availed through various self-help groups has made women self-reliant.

Revathi, police inspector womens' police station, Pandeshwar, in her address motivating the girl students, told them to be proud of being a girl child. "Our rights should not affect the rights of others. Each citizen along with his/her rights should also remember their duty. The people should also come forward to give information about NDPS cases as it is also the duty of every citizen," she added.

The police inspector further said that if everyone has done their duty the country would be a developed nation.

Revathi called upon students to erase negative thoughts and move forward with positive thoughts in their heart which will bring them success.

Dr PP Devan of AJ Medical College also spoke on the occasion.

During this occasion, Sanath Shekar, managing director of Aghor Group, Mangaluru inaugurated two sanitary napkin vending machines donated by donors.

Professor Rajashekar Hebbar C, principal Dr PD Pai-PS Pai GFGCM, Car Street welcomed the guests.

Sharath Shet, Deepthi Sharath Shet and others were present on the occasion.

S L Shet Diamond House, Ladyhill, Mangaluru, is the co-sponsor of the event. Zari Couture is the associate partner. The entire event is supported by Aghor Group, Pishtac, Nandini and Zuese Fitness.
