The Superjumbo Finally Set to Arrive in India

Media Release

Dubai, UAE, Jul 6: The launch of Terminal 3 at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport just got bigger! Emirates is all set to become the first international carrier in Indian Civil Aviation history to bring to India the world’s largest passenger aircraft, the Airbus A380.

To celebrate the launch of the new terminal at the IGI Airport, Emirates has commissioned a special commercial service of the 517-seat A380 offering passengers flying from Delhi to Dubai a one-off opportunity to experience the aircraft’s grandeur, not to mention its luxurious onboard amenities.

The A380 will operate EK516 on the Dubai-Delhi route on 15th July, 2010 departing Dubai at 10:10 hours and arrive in Delhi at 14:50 hours. The aircraft will be at the IGI Airport for three hours before it returns to Dubai as EK517 departing Delhi at 17:50 hours. Bookings for this special flight will open on 6th June, 2010 with a special one-way fare from Dubai for AED380 plus taxes or return for AED990 plus taxes. The fare is valid only for bookings made on the special flight of the Emirates A380.

Majid Al Mualla, Emirates’ Senior Vice President - West Asia and Indian Ocean, said, “Emirates has been flying to Delhi since our first day of operations in 1985. Twenty five years on, 10 destinations and 184 weekly flights certainly represent the efforts and investment that have gone into building a strong relationship with India.

“The fact that we are bringing the A380 here is a reiteration of the potential that we see in the Indian market and our intent to partner with the nation in its growth. Over the years, Emirates has evolved to become a company that is global in its operations but firmly connected with the Indian mindset and the consumer.”

Emirates last week placed an order with Airbus for an additional 32 A380s, taking the total firm order for the iconic airliner of the 21st century to 90 and signalling the carrier’s confidence in the long-term growth of air travel. The order, valued at $11.5bn at list prices, reaffirms Emirates’ status as one of the world’s leading carriers and of Dubai as a central gateway to worldwide air travel.

The massive bird, which will fly into the Indian skies for the very first time, is expected to attract huge crowds. The event will be a momentous occasion not just for Emirates and the IGI Airport, but for Indian aviation.

Emirates’ A380 is renowned for its First Class Private Suites and Shower Spas. The much-acclaimed super-jumbo offers an Onboard Lounge for First Class and Business Class passengers, with a wide range of drinks and canapés, as well as the space to socialise or simply relax.

Passengers in all classes can lose themselves in the quietness of the aircraft and the much-enjoyed, award winning ice in-flight entertainment system. There are more than 1,000 channels of on-demand entertainment, including 200 movies from around the world, 100 TV channels, more than 500 audio channels, 100 video games and news, sports and business headlines.

Emirates, the largest operator of the A380, currently flies 11 of the aircraft serving popular destinations for travellers including London Heathrow, Toronto, Bangkok, Paris, Jeddah, Seoul, Sydney and Auckland. It will fly to Beijing from 1st August, to Manchester from 1st September and resume services to New York from 31st October 2010. The airline recently inducted a brand new A380 into its fleet, taking the total number of A380s to eleven.

Double Wow !! This is truly amazing .

Instead of being proud that the A 380 is arriving to India with 14 First class seats , 76 Business class seats and 427 Economy class seats ( Total capacity - 517 seats)......

Instead of being proud that the UAE is considering flying its A380 to India as India has lots of potential ...........

Instead of being proud that New technology has arrived to India........

Instead of being proud that we Indians are doing so well in Everything ,,,,,,,,,,,a few of the uneducated and ungrateful people start with their negative comments regarding poverty , development and roads in India.............

Even though we have no roads , we have the best of Vehicles provided at a very nominal cost .....

Even though we have poverty , the deaths due to hunger is ZERO.....

Though we have no infrastructure , we have the best of companies located in India.......

Even though we have no modern Labs and workshops we have the worlds best Doctors , engineers , Miss world , Miss universe and Mr world....

Some people never count the blessing ...... All they try to do is be negative forever in life...

For prople who appreciate progress in life , thank you for your comments and be a blessing to the people around you....

Every new airport and the landing
of a jumbo aircraft is a positive
    sign of progress and prosperity
    in India. The economic revolution
took place in India during the last few years is quite amazing.

But, as many readers have commended, we have failed to
    watch the slums around the
    glittering airports, and we can't
    close the eyes any more.

As India is prospering, more jobs
will be added, espcially for the
educated sector, but we must face
the stark reality of the uneducated
    masses living on $ 2.00/day
    wage. It is a challenging
question faced with us along with
    the jubilation of prosperity!

India’s poverty has no “Quick Solution”. It’s a massive project and it’s definitely not for our governments alone to act (irrespective NDA, UPA, etc. etc.). So let’s stop blaming anyone for it.
Now, does this mean that unless Poverty is irradicated from India, we should not look at the Development of the Nation?? I definitely DO NOT believe so!
Doesn’t such developments increase employment and increased standard of living for Millions of Indians? We have a Middle Class which is bigger than the entire population of US! Should all these people suffer as well?

Poverty is India’s greatest Challenge and its upto us individuals to do our bit. In the meanwhile, let India Shine and please don’t spoil the fun!!! Parallely, please continue to set up taluk and district level organizations to help the poor through Charity, etc. There are many such organizations springing up in India across all communities… thanks to the development of THE MIDDLE CLASS!!!

I did not understand the comment from Nagesh Nayak,Blore. What he ment by security for defense forces? Is it physical security or social security, if it's social security govt has done better, if it's physical security I wonder it's just providing a fence which gaurds a field with another fence to gaurd itself?? Never ending.I think if yestrday's bandh money was utilised for constructive purpose, 2 to 3 points highlighted by Nagesh could ve been solved?

Nagesh Naik you are 100% correct. The current govt policy is like " Hottege Hittilladiddaroo Juttige Mallige hoovu". The jumbo landing is not definitely the need of the hour. We need the price to be reduced and the common indian shall be provided with a decent living. 70% of the people India are deprived from the basic necessities like Food, Clothing and Shelter. These Bakwass Congress ministers are busy in filling their pocket and their swiss account. Congress very well know that the next election is not in their favour. So they are utilizing the opportunity to the maximum..

Dear All Countrymen, I have always tried to maintain a very positive attitude, facade, approach that I do in life and so far fortunately, it has paid rich dividends and mental balance. However, when we look at the way things being misused (especially power), the innocent and the under-privilege put to disadvantage my blood boils all the more when are silent witness to it and much as I would like to, I can't do a damn about it! It's a paradox / dilemma that we are faced day-in and day-out and only a forum like this and people's awareness is what makes it happen for us... so, let's all celebrate all the good things are happening to the country and in the country, let's also be weary of people taking advantage of the situation or out to loot us and within our limited capacity, either singly or through a group let's try and help each other so that eventually, if not for us atleast for the future generation let's leave behind a Bharath that is really Mahaan.... hi,EDWARD, MANGALORE,

    FAST DEVELOPMENT UNDER UPA:

    1. NO PROPER MORORABLE ROADS TO VILLAGES EVEN AFTER 63 YEARS OF INDEPENDENT & 55 YEARS OF CONGRESS RULE.

BUT ENOUGH CHARTERED FLIGHTS ARE THERE TO TRAVEL FOR YOUNG HERO'S. THIS IS FAST DEVELOPMENT?

NO POTABEL DRINKING WATER IN VILLGES & MOST OF THE CITIES ALSO.

MAJORITY OF THE PEOPLE ARE BELOW POVERTY LINE & STRUGGLING FOR SQUARE MEAL A DAY.

NO SECURITY FOR EVEN DFENCE FORCES. DEFENCE FORCES ARE NOT EVEN PROVIDED WITH ENOUGH WATER & FOOD.

    IS THIS FAST DEVELPMENT.

FASTEST DEVELOPMENT ARE HAPPENNING IN :

    1. RISE IN PRICES OF ESSENTIAL COMMODITIES & OIL PRICES.

    2. APPEASEMENT OF MINORITIES FOR VOTE BANKING.

    3. CRUSHING POOR, MIDDLE CLASS & HELPING RICH PEOPLE.
