Bengaluru: Christians protest against MP Pratap Simha's comment, seek apology

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Mar 2: Karnataka Christian Political Leaders Forum has sought an immediate apology from MP Pratap Simha, for his comments against the Christian community. It warned that failing compliance, the community will launch strong agitation against him.

The ire of the community is directed against the instructions issued by the MP to officials at the Karnataka Development Programme meeting held on February 24, in which the MP reportedly directed the officials to identify people moving around with crosses in their necks and to deprive them from the facilities being extended by the government.

Activists of the forum who gathered near the Gandhi statue near Maurya Circle here on Monday March 1, held dharna with crosses in their hands. They raised slogans against the MP. They warned that unless the MP tenders an apology to the community, activists of the forum will gherao all the programmes in which the MP will be participating.

Addressing the protesters, leader of the forum, Antony Vikram, pointed out that Pratap Simha became an MP by getting votes of all the communities. "He draws salary and allowances out of taxes paid by us. The Christian community is provided with government facilities out of the taxes paid by the people, not out of money collected from the MP. He is expected to know these facts," he stated. He said that shooting off their mouths at their whims and fancies happens to be a bad habit of some BJP leaders. "Some leaders of that party cannot go to bed without mouthing derogatory and insulting remarks about other communities. Pratap Simha is speaking as if he has forgotten that he is functioning in a democratic system, not an autocratic one," he criticized.

Vikram said that Pratap Simha would not have issued such a statement if he was aware of the contributions made by the Christians to the progress of the state and the nation. It does not behove of a people's representative to speak on the basis of castes and religions. Therefore, he should offer an apology immediately, he urged.

Dr Rev Manohar Chandra Prasad, Anil Antony Christopher and several others participated in the protest demonstration.

Mr Sanjay..In December 2019 Nithyananda declared that he had created a new 'Hindu nation' called Kailaasa and claimed to issue passports, currency and other documents.[68][69][70] In his announcement he said, "Kailaasa is a nation without borders created by dispossessed Hindus around the world who lost the right to practice Hinduism authentically in their own countries”. Nithyananda claims that Kailasa is the world's only sovereign Hindu nation.[71] Kailaasa has also been described as a network of [non-governmental organization]]s spanning three continents. The above is called foreign funding lol

People fail to differentiate between faith and money and that is why these controversies. Becoming christian or hindu does not change the persons economic condition. Reservation given on basis of economic backgrounds and the tribals have progressed and come to the fore front due to this. Otherwise they would have been like those still striving for livelyhood.

Ronald D.Udipi, just as a contrast to your saying how many people are converted to christianity,.you said noone you know .But I know a few people are instead converted not to Roman catholics but a few our brothern and sisters have embrased the New apostolic or New life .May be he must have meant these.whatever it is,whichever community it is,in our democratic country everyone has the freedom to choose their religion as they want.why not?But the question here is why should it disturb him if anyone converts to christian ?Does he wish to be Hindu?Second if someone converts or moves about with cross does it do him any problem?Or cross blend him ?AsI said previously where he studied in Catholic institute or govt.school?when he thinks if one converts to christian religion, all facilities should be deprived OK.let him make.We catholics will deprive all madical seats ,jobs, education in catholic institutes, social services to all other Hindus will be stopped immediately. What will he say now?

Rita, Germany, I totally agree with you... If we are deprived of the facilities then we should deprive them in our community institutions... And here they will either bow down or collapse the structure.... It's just because they whom so ever person study there will become a Money Maker... The Discipline, method of teaching facilities, events, etc. are way better than their's ..... But still are community has been taught to Forgive. As God Says: " I, your Lord, will take the revenge from thy side, thou shalt not Raise your hand to hold the sword but to pray and forgive and let your God stand beside you ."

We need more people like Pratap Simhas to speak ill about our beliefs, and spread badwill about us...he is actually doing our faith a lot of good, even though indirectly. God will Bless him. 1. Indian Constitution states that India is a Secular, Sovereign,Socialist,Democratic republic. 2. The core ethos of India has been a fundamental unity, tolerance and even synthesis of religion. 3. Secularism means' that state shall have no religion of its own and all persons of the country shall be equally entitled to the freedom of their conscience and have the right freely to profess, practice and have the right freely to profess, practice and propagate any religion. FREEDOM IS MOST PRECIOUS,NATURAL JUSTICE. IT'S NOT GIVEN. IT'S TAKEN. THEREFORE, WE MUST ALERTLY PROTECT OURSELVES FROM THE SNATCHERS/ ROBBERS/ VULTURES !

Prathap Simha has said tribals who are converted to Christianity should be denied benefits given to Scheduled castes and tribes. I don't know in what way it is wrong. Christians claim that there is no caste system in their society. So how come they are to get caste based benefits?. If they are poor they have to be given benefits under economically backward groups. it is infact better to group all the poor irrespective of caste or religion for benefits under EBC.

Look around and see every hospital to schools to orphanage homes to homeless shelters. Do you know 90% in those places are benifits by non Christian's. Did you ever thought the sacrifice by catholic priests and nuns to aĺl humans without religion day and night. Majority of them are and were benifits by non Christian's. I know your mind is full of hate and only lord jesus christ can heal you. During jesus times many Christians has to go to difficulty and same haters like you but Christians are thought to forgive their haters and do good to them. In conclusion I pray to jesus that you will be healed from hate and evil thoughts towards fellow humans and will be a honest follower of christ in coming days and works towards poor and marginalized people.
