Rs 2,100 cr collected for Ram Mandir, can't give account while drive still on: Pejawar Swamiji

Bengaluru, Feb 28 (IANS): Hitting out at the critics of fundraising campaign for the proposed Ram temple in Ayodhya at Uttar Pradesh, Pejawar Math seer Vishwaprasanna Teertha, said on Saturday that the Trust had collected Rs 2,100 crore from across the country, but how could anyone give account of funds, even while the drive is on.

Participating in a religious function that was organised by the Rashtradharma Organisation here, the seer who is also one of the trustee of the Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, observed that it was improper for people to question accountability of the fundraising drive even when the drive was still underway.

The Rashtradharma Organisation created a huge art work of Ram Mandir and Lord Ram being displayed in front of Lalbagh West gate at Basavanagudi in Bengaluru.

This three-day public display of the installation is organised by the outfit as part of the Nidhi Sangrahana Abhiyan for the construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.

"The art work is 30-ft high and 35-ft wide, is conceived and created by six Chitrakala Parishath students Raghu Vodeyar, Manjunath L., Fayaz, Zilal, Suyash and Puneeth using approximately 35,000 five rupee coins and 25,000 one rupee coins and these artists took 10 days to complete it.

"We have so far collected Rs 2,100 crore for temple and we are expecting that it total collection might reach upto Rs 2,500 crore. But to give account, there is thumb rule that first entire fund collection process has to complete," the seer said.

Answering a question on a section of leaders terming the fundraising drive as loot, he retorted that loot is when someone steals money donated to temples and not when money is collected for a noble cause of temple construction.

Rubbishing former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy's allegations that houses, where money was not donated, were marked in some parts of the state, the seer said that on some occasions when the fund collection team found their receipt books exhausted, where there were people calling them to donate money, their houses were marked as a reminder that the fund needs to be collected from there.

"If some people want to create controversy out of nothing, what can anyone do about it. One can easily find a solution through discussion issues openly but solutions will not emerge for arguments for sake of arguments," he quipped.

The main designer of this huge art, Raghu Wodeyar, told reporters that the main idea behind this art is to show how people have come together across the country to build Lord Rama temple. "Coins depict our country's people and their contributions in this art. While art itself is explanatory, that it is meant for Ram Mandir," he explained.

Whereas Rashtra Dharma Organisation treasurer, Santosh said that this was a dream come true. "When we formed our organisation during the Ram Mandir movement, we never thought that we would realise our dream so soon. We thought it was a long drawn battle. But I think at last we are releasing it," he said.

Mr.Shetty mangalore ,we are not asking here where the money is gone or nothing about it.But you are so sensitive when someone other than Hindus talk about the collection or collected the money for Mandir .Why?When one has the needed small means are there can build a huge Mandir can be built.even more bigger than this Ram temple than here expected.Afterall it s place of worship. We should not get ourselves in a quarrel or sensitive about this collection. But what is a temple worth if people consider only building and forget the poor ones problems around us?I know even our catholic people too have extended help and not less.Let us not concentrate only on funds but also our human side also.

Dear Rita residing in Deutschland, Crores flow into Churches and Mosques some from here and a lot from abroad every year. Are all that spent for poor only? Money collected for Mandir should be accounted for and also if possible spent on poor rather than on giant statues of very little significance to you. And we have certain Ivan D'Souza demanding 250 Crore for minority development from the state Government; and we know where all that will end up. Let us be fair in our reasoning shall we? This amount is collected in the form of donation. Atleast we know that there is a number associated. Let us not get assume auditors role as yet. Yes, if at all, we should be frightened that the money has lost its value. That much money could be collected from the population that cries foul about increasing fuel prices, inflation, dwindling wages, unemployment etc.

There should be Ram Madir every corner of India for villagers and free food should be given to all people outside temple for devotees as well as poor and jobless people without discriminating between cast and religion. Nobody will go hungry, In the name Lord Ram. Government should give subsidized rice and Daal to these temple so that 365 days people get food and rest managed by temple funds allotted by Ram Mandir committee.

Rakesh mangalore,Iwill not agree with you for certain things.RamRajya ok .food for everyone ,free,Govt should allot food tto temple so that all get it.Tell me when food is given to all free who wants to work? From where should govt supply to tempe when noone goesto work and no taxes are paid?Such Ramrajya will not exist until like oilindustries collect money from selling like UAE.Noone will have the interest to work .Now itself so many are going around with goodagiri.and theft ,murder. One must work and earn his bread.Due to certain reasons like floods or get sick etc it can be accepted to serve food free.Ram Rajya hin or her, work and earn your bread.Dont depend on others.

Rita, Germany you can not compare india with UAE or any other countries. Temple management is not blind. They know who is mis using free food facilities and who is not. Daily thousands of people go hungry and temple management in villages knows the condition of people. Specially old age people and orphan students. Here in Kadri temple, hundreds of students come and have food on daily basis without any discrimination. We are still having old mind set saying free food will make the people lazy and how to exploit poor hungry people. “Where there is a will there is a way”

I am not against any religion. If we indians would have given priority to eradicate poverty from india, to give education to every poor, Good drinking water, built houses for poor and good medical hospitals in the same way as funds are collecting to built mandir then our india would have been a heaven. But sadly our sentiments are taken over by religion. If we talk about the 2,100 crore funds that collected so far, will it be fully used to built the mandir?

Rama Mandira Fund collectors had come to my apartment in Bangalore, when no one was there at my home. They had come for door to door collection. They had kept on pamphlet in the door which i saw in the evening. Till now i have not made any donations (If I was there at home during their visit, i would have definitely contributed something). I may donate in future or I may not donate. No one called me, no one visited my home second time, no one marked my house. There is different intention behind HDK and Siddu's remarks.

Sir, I respect you, but in this particular topic, it's the internal matter of the Hindus, this 2100 crores has come from self donations, this is not any tax paid money. Even if there is some mismanagement in the accounts, only the people related to the development of the temple and the donators( irrespective of religion and caste )can question it, nobody else.

Rudolf Rodriguez, you personally have nothing to do with ram mandhir and it's donations, so you have nothing to do with it's collections or accounts, the donations are donated personally and the money is not any tax money or bank money or any companies with share holders money that anyone walking on the street is bothered about it.
