Karwar: Homework blues - Girl spends night inside forest, alleges kidnap

Daijiworld Media Network - Karwar (SP)

Karwar, Feb 27: The case of a missing girl student from Nandolli in Yallapur taluk in the district, which had hogged limelight and given rise to fear and apprehension, turned into damp squib at the end. The girl, who initially said she was kidnapped, admitted during her questioning that she had concocted the story of kidnap to avoid getting reprimanded by the family members for her disinterestedness in study and homework.

The girl's mother often questioned her about leaving her homework partly finished. On Wednesday, she had called the teachers of the school to know whether her daughter was doing her homework properly. The teachers had informed her that the homework had been semi-finished by her daughter. The girl said that she developed cold feet about getting admonished and beaten by the family members if she went home. Therefore, she said she got down from the bus and spent time inside the forest near her house.

"At around 1 am, I felt like returning home but thought of cooking up kidnap story to avoid getting a dressing down. I therefore tied up my legs with the help of leggings, stuffed my veil into my mouth, and tied up my hands. When I heard a bike moving towards my home, I shouted at the top of my voice. After the biker informed the family, they came and led me back home," she explained.

She confessed that she told her mother that people in two bikes had abducted her and dropped her off in the forest at night. She also lied to her parents that her abductors had threatened to harm her family if she revealed the kidnap to others. The girl confessed that the only aim she did all these things was to escape getting abused for not doing homework.

As the villagers believed in the girl's story, fear had enveloped the village about the unknown abductors and concerns were expressed about the safety of the young students. Deputy superintendent of police, Ravi Naik and police inspector, Suresh Yallur, who pursued the case vigorously, succeeded in bringing down curtains on the two-day long suspense on the drama.

Now dont blame the girl.Iam sure she is not getting enough assurance from parents.May be they are working .Now parents must do onething Instead of asking if she has done her homework, one should sit by her side ,help when things dont understand ,or give some coaching suppose they are illiterates.let her not alone.and important ,please no hit her That makes situation worst. One should study with interest, but not out of fear.Everyone is not a genie.Should praise her if something has done good. Then only students feel they are loved and dont want go away from home.Make her understand She should not make such attempts again ,because it is very dangerous to girls when away in forest ,wild animals and Bad boys too are there waiting to spoil girls.murder even at the end.Hpe she understands this.

I feel it reflects the horrific atmosphere at home. Parents should think about circumstances which led her to feel convenient to spend the night in the forest instead of home!! the blame here goes to parents for inappropriate manner with children. The study says, When it came to stress, more than 70% of students said they were “often or always stressed over schoolwork,” with 56% listing homework as a primary stressor. Less than 1% of the students said homework was not a stressor.
