Mangaluru, Feb 20: A car driver who had to pay a heavy price after crossing Talapady toll gate, cursed himself after finding that the charges he had to pay were unreasonable and exorbitant.

Sandesh, resident of Uppala Pachchambala was heading home at 11 am on Friday February 19. As he did not have FASTag sticker in his vehicle, he was forced to pay Rs 80, which is double the normal fee. Sandesh then bought a tag at the FASTag counter located near the tollgate. The staff told him that the FASTag would become operational after two hours.

He passed the same gate at about 2 pm and was approached by the toll gate staff seeking payment of fee. He told them that he had already paid double the charges and showed them the receipt. But it so transpired that the toll staff had entered wrong registration number of his vehicle in the receipt. Sandesh then paid Rs 80 again for a mistake for which he was not responsible.

He returned to Mangaluru and found that Rs 40 had been debited from the toll gate balance. Sandesh was made to cough up Rs 200 as toll charges for visiting home and returning. He said he will take up the matter with higher authorities.

This tollgate number is really a headache for the people.waiting in que, later their bla bla...wrong reciept simply to vomit at them.why dont this Govt make a change and make easy like in foreign country?Install the Toll gate number Board on the head of every road where to be collected That reads and enter the number and collects from the account of the person. No hues no cries and illiterates on the work ,collecting in neverending amount. Both sides it reads the numberplates and know what to do.No ques ,no waiting .He too could have look at the receipt he got first ,instead of running around for nothing.Yes noone has time nowadays.

Good..like this incidents should happen..then only the public will unite and fight against the tyranny of besharam govt. Now all public of talapady must unite and bring the toll gate down like babri masjid was brought down in 1992.

As mentioned above it is the fault of the toll gate staff, they should be made to pay for the error and inconvenience caused.

The sad reality is that he wil have to spend Rs. 2000/- , if he has to follow it up with higher authorities and take the matter to its conclusion. Thats why most of us just leave such matters, and there is a continued harrassment of the public

Would uave been great if ye heeded the deadline and got a fastag done. I see a lot of people who dont mind standing in a long q and paying up double but they wont get a fastag done.
