Mumbai: FIR lodged against 500 for flouting Covid norms in Thane

Mumbai, Feb 19: Around 500 people were booked for gathering at a birthday party celebration at Dombivli in Thane district and allegedly violating the Covid-19 norms, an official said.

The Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) said that the birthday party was held during the intervening night of February 17 and 18.

Akshay Gudge, KMDC ward officer reportedly received a complaint of people gathered in a large number to celebrate the birthday of a local resident violating the Covid norms such as wearing masks and maintaining social distancing, it is said.

The civic authorities responding to the alert reached the spot and lodged a complaint with the Manpada police station. Around 500 people were booked including the host and the attendees, a statement said.

A case has been registered and FIR was filed against them under IPC Sections 269 and 270 for negligent and malignant act likely to spread infection of diseases and Section 188 for disobedience to order duly promulgated by the public servant. However, no arrests have been made so far.
