Dubai: Fog effect - 2,500 calls in 9 hours

Dubai, Feb 16: Owing to the foggy weather conditions that engulfed the city, the Dubai police received 2,574 emergency calls between Sunday midnight and 9 am on Monday February 15.

However, no serious accidents were reported, colonel Turki bin Faris, director, command & control centre at the general department of operations, Dubai Police, said. He said the authorities in Dubai and the neighbouring emirates such as Sharjah and Abu Dhabi activated the fog traffic system, and ensured no serious accidents took place.

The Dubai Police urged road users to exercise caution, adhere to safety rules, and to reduce driving speed during foggy weather conditions.
