Feb 15: Coronavirus cases in twin districts dip - 9 new in DK, 11 in Udupi

Mangaluru/Udupi, Feb 15: Only nine new cases of coronavirus were reported in Dakshina Kannada on Monday February 15, while Udupi too continued to maintain its low daily tally with just 11 fresh cases.

As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 5,45,864 samples have been tested so far, out of which 5,11,662 have turned out to be negative.

The total number of positive cases in the district stands at 34,202, out of which only 263 are currently active.

As many as 32 patients were discharged from hospitals on Monday, taking the total number of recoveries to 33,199.

The total number of deaths in Dakshina Kannada due to coronavirus so far is 740.

Though the cases are on a decline, the district administration has urged people to continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected a whopping Rs 33,66,470 as fine in 32,459 incidents of mask violation.


Udupi

As per the district health bulletin, as many as 3,50,899 samples have been tested so far, out of which 3,27,425 have turned out to be negative.

A total of 11 new cases were reported on Monday, taking the total number of cases to 23,474, out of which only 62 are currently active.

Seven patients were discharged from hospitals on Monday, taking the total number of recoveries to 23,223.

Out of the 11 new patients, six are in home isolation while five is in COVID hospital or care centres.

Among the 11, ten are asymptomatic.

While Udupi reported five of the 11 cases, Kundapur and Karkala recorded two each.

The district has reported 189 deaths due to coronavirus so far.

    I would like to say here that the health Dept of Udupi And Mangaluru districts have done a wonderful job of controlling the spread of this Virus I salute the health officials who have done this I salute everyone Kudos to all who are behind the control of COvid Now vaccination is happening fast and I am sure we can defeat the deadly virus Thanks to all who have worked hard
