Feb 14: Recoveries outnumber fresh corona cases in DK; 13 new in Udupi

Mangaluru/Udupi, Feb 14: Dakshina Kannada on Sunday February 14 recorded 24 new cases of novel coronavirus, while Udupi reported 13 fresh cases.

As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 5,44,516 samples have been tested so far, out of which 5,10,323 have turned out to be negative.

The total number of positive cases in the district stands at 34,193, out of which only 286 are currently active.

As many as 39 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 33,167.

The total number of deaths in Dakshina Kannada due to coronavirus so far is 740.

Though the cases are on a decline, the district administration has urged people to continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected a whopping Rs 33,53,670 as fine in 32,331 incidents of mask violation.


Udupi

As per the district health bulletin, as many as 3,50,059 samples have been tested so far, out of which 3,26,596 have turned out to be negative.

As many as 13 new cases were reported on Sunday, taking the total number of cases to 23,463, out of which only 58 are currently active.

Eight patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 23,216.

Out of 13 new patients, 12 are in home isolation while one is in COVID hospital.

Among the 13, eleven are asymptomatic.

While Udupi reported 11 of the 13 cases, Kundapur and Karkala recorded one each.

The district has reported 189 deaths due to coronavirus so far.
