Mangaluru, Feb 14: Ravindra Pai, managing director Century Real Estate Holdings Private Limited laid the foundation stone for Nirmaan Homes' Kailash, a luxury residential apartment project, in association with Bhargavi Builders, Kottara on Sunday, February 14.

Addressing the gathering Ravindra Pai said, "Real estate is an extremely important industry for the development of our country. Real estate is the second biggest contributor to GDP in India. Nearly, 6.5% to 7% of GDP in the country is contributed by real estate. If we add the contribution of allied industries like cement, steel, building materials and others, the contribution of GDP will rise up to 14%. In the perspective of employment, real estate is the second biggest employer in the country, after the agriculture sector. Every year the real estate sector creates employment for about 1.5 crore people."

"The real estate industry is also the largest generator of foreign exchange. It means FDI. Either in the form of investment or in the form of NRI investment. When people from abroad purchase a home they bring in foreign currency. These are the contributions of real estate to the country's economy," Ravindra said.

Speaking on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of making India a USD 5 trillion economy by 2024-25, Ravindra Pai said that the real estate industry will have play a major role in achieving this target. "Currently, real estate roughly contributes USD 180 billion to the economy. By 2030, real estate alone will contribute roughly about USD 1 trillion towards the economy," he added.

Ravindra also stated that if India has to become a USD 5 trillion economy, the growth has to be over 10% every year.
He maintained that the real estate sector also contributes to nation-building. "What we invest for, cannot be taken out of the country," he said.

He also said that the companies like Nirmaan Homes, Bhargavi Builders have to become model organizations.

"Mostly the middle class makes the biggest investment in real estate. So, as real estate builders or developers, we are selling dreams to customers. And it is our duty to ensure that their dream comes true," he said.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Dr Y Bharath Shetty said, "The real estate industry provides employment to many people from a labourer to the promoter. 'Kailash' is a very good project and is located at a prime location. The project will be a good landmark for the city."

Lauding the initiative of the new project MLA D Vedavyas Kamath said that he had held a meeting along with builders about the problems that they are facing in real estate industry and that he is also working to provide them business-friendly opportunities.

"Everyone dreams of owning a house. Providing a house for an affordable price is a really good initiative," he said.

"Mangaluru as a city will completely transform by 2025. Measures have been taken to meet the demand for clean drinking water in the city. For this very reason, a new pipeline is being laid from Thumbe to Mangaluru at a cost of Rs 750 crore," Kamath said.

Chairperson of Asare Charitable Trust, Asha Jyothi Rai said, "A house is not just a building it contains several memories. Along with building residential apartments for affordable prices, builders should give importance to the environment and nature. Nature should be preserved for the next generation."
