Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Feb 6: Hereafter, the people of Ullal need not roam around offices to get their office works done. They will be able to do everything done when being in the comforts of their homes. A team of officials will come to the spot. This is the scheme introduced by Ullal city municipality.

Although election to the municipality was held long back, for about two years, there was no administration. Because of the lack of proper planning, income of the municipality had suffered. The election to the posts of the president and vice president were held recently, and the new administration took over the reins. Under the leadership of the municipal commissioner, raids were conducted on shops and commercial complexes which had rental arrears.

As the drive did not yield the necessary response, the administration and the officialdom have tried a new experiment. Information about this was provided by municipal president, Chitrakala Chandrakanth and vice president U P Ayub Manchila, as well as municipal commissioner Rayappa were present.

The municipality will be undertaking this programme every Thursday. The first of these programmes will be held on February 11 at the commercial complex at Thokottu Junction. On the second Thursday, the venue will be Dharmanagara government school, third one will be Thokottu Olapete etc.

Municipal president Chitrakala Chandrakanth, said that there were three bill collectors three years back, but now only one is present. She said that there is acute staff shortage.

Vice president Ayuub Manchila said that 50 percent of the water bill of commercial and residential complexes is pending while 30 percent of businessmen have not obtained business licences. He said that in order to avoid the people from the necessity to move between offices, the officials will go to the people. They will visit specified spots every Thursday, stay there from 10 am to 4 pm and attend to the requirements of the people, he stated.

What happened to pernnial sea erosion issues? Waiting for full moon in June& July months? What happened to ADB sanctioned funds? Best solution is to build sea wall 15 feet deep, 4 feet wide as a permanent solution instead of spending money on boulders every year.

President municipal president, Chitrakala Chandrakanth madam, the road concretisation work from Melangady to Millath has created a lot of problem for the residents. The storm water drain has been constructed so close to the compound wall of most houses in that area weakening its foundation , causing the wall to collapse. In our compound right opposite the ullal Darga, , the contractor has removed the wall, promising us to rebuild it when the drain work is completed. Our area council member also personally requested me to permit the contractor to remove the wall to enable safe construction of the drain.Since one year I have been pleading with the contractor , Councillor, and local leaders to rebuild the compound wall. Request your kind intervention
