Mangaluru: SpiceJet delay baggage - Commuters express disappointment

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (DV)

Mangaluru, Feb 5: Several commuters who arrived from Dubai to Mangaluru International Airport via SpiceJet have complained regarding the delay in baggage.

Speaking to Daijiworld Santhosh Noronha, one of the passengers said he had boarded SpiceJet in Dubai Airport (DXB) on Thursday, February 5. "After arriving at the Mangaluru airport, exactly after exiting the aeroplane, two staff of SpiceJet asked the passengers for boarding passes. Later, they asked a few passengers to proceed. For the remaining passengers, they informed that their checked-in baggage did not arrive, as the aeroplane can not carry baggage over the capacity of the flight. They then asked us to proceed to the ground floor for further information. After the process of immigration, while commuters arrived at SpiceJet counter they informed us that the baggage will be delivered to passengers on Sunday, February 7."

He also said that each passenger is allowed to carry 30 kg baggage on the flight and questioned as to how did the luggage exceed the capacity of flight.

Sources in SpiceJet at Mangaluru airport informed that the delivery of the luggage to a few commuters is delayed. As the flight cannot carry luggage that is over its capacity, the delayed luggage will arrive on Saturday at 12.40 am. It will be then delivered to passengers on Sunday morning. The flight could not carry over its capacity as it was supposed to carry even the fuel, this caused the delay in the baggage.

There is only one solution to this perennial problem. Allow foreign airlines landing rights to Mangaluru, create competition and then all these inefficient carriers would be automatically weeded out!! I suspect that SJ would be the next airline to see the sunset in Indian aviation industry.

That will never happen because Gulf - Mangaluru Flights is a Mafia Nexus Monopoly between Government of India and Air India.

"The flight could not carry its capacity as it was supposed to carry even fuel. This caused the delay in the luggage Point to be noted other airlines dosent fill fuel? are they left behind the luggage Is spice jet over fill the fuel in Dubai to save money ,because in India fuel is high coast? Reason is not accecptable

This is a repeated issue from this airline They take additional cargo to make more revenue and leave passengers luggage back in Dubai.. On 2nd of December and even earlier I have faced same issues from SpiceJet. They left back around 40% passengers bags which they deliver later in 48 hours time. Unacceptable behaviour

I too faced the same issue on my 26th Nov flight from Dubai to Mangalore. It was the duty of the airline staff to inform which luggage will not be boarded so that we could remove the perishable items from that particular bag. Nothing was told and on arrival, was informed that the baggage will be home delivered after 2 days. No proper explanation was given. Had a tough time to get the same as the driver could not understand the location though it was in the heart of the city. Horrible experience. If this news was published in November, then none of the passengers would have flown by Spicejet.

its look like SPICEJET is playing this dirty tricks all the time , some thing fishy going on which their administration seriously need to look into it. Same kind of issues happend on 2nd Dec flight from Dubai reached Mangalore early morning on 3rd Dec, Many passengers travelled with me did not get their luggage . Even they were running short of forms which need to be filled. They didnt even have enough staff to guide passengers to explain the procedure to follow. People who travelling for short period have to wait for 2 days to get their luggage.

When the carrier cant carry the luggage of normal weight, then please decide what you will do by your next trip to mangalore .Unusual explanation by the officials. Why they didnt tell passangers before the y boarded.?One mostly depend on own clothes or any worthful things in it.what when it never arrived or lost? Most probably the carried more passengers and left back baggages for next day.Because passengers bring more money? When baggage is not arrived ,one has to come on next day which is a more mental pressure, problems to come and go .waste of time for a person coming on holidays. Why cant they dispatch luggage to their home ?for their mistake ?we do get home delivery in case of lost or delayed baggage free of cost.

Wonder if SpiceJet would be providing compensation for the ordeal faced by the passengers ? Would the luggage be delivered to homes or passengers forced to come to the airport to collect ?

May be the Pilot needs some lessons in Math on weight calculation for the trip, or they carried illegal Sand from Dubai.

Even I experienced the same problem when I came to mangalore in December. Such a lame thing. Even my friends also faced the problem. So why tell 30kgs While booking ? Is the airline taking responsibility to compensate for the perishable goods ?? I had frozen food with me all went to a waste ... Air India Express is far better than spice jet.
