 Mumbai, Jun 18: Renowned social worker G T Acharya has been unanimously elected as the president of Karnataka Sangha of suburban Goregaon for the year 2010 – 11.
Mumbai, Jun 18: Renowned social worker G T Acharya has been unanimously elected as the president of Karnataka Sangha of suburban Goregaon for the year 2010 – 11.
 
The election was held at the fifty second annual general body meeting of the Sangha at Barkoor Rukmini Shetty memorial mini-hall, here recently. Sangha president S M Shetty presided over the meeting.
 
Former presidents Shakunthala R Prabhu, R S Devadiga and Surendra Salian were elected to manage the affairs of Karnataka Sangha, Goregaon, informed honorary chief secretary Padmaja P Munnur.
 
G T Acharya has been a popular social worker in the metro for over two decades. He is serving as an honorary secretary of Jayasrikrishna Parisara Premi Samiti (JSKPPS) a metro- based NGO which is working for the integral development of undivided Dakshina Kannada (DK) district.  He has been a member of Karnataka Sangha, Goregaon for the past two decades and served the Sangha in various capacities.  He also served as a president of metro- based Karnataka Vishwakarma Association.
 
He is a native of Gurpur – Kaikamba in Mangalore.  JSKPPS founder and president Tonse Jayakrishna A Shetty and Karnataka Vishwakarma Association president Nitte Damodar Acharya and other office bearers congratulated G T Acharya on the occasion
