Mumbai: Pune Blast Suspect Gets Bail

Mumbai, June 15 (IANS) Abdul Samad Bhatkal, the prime suspect in the Feb 13 blast in Pune's German Bakery, was Tuesday freed on bail by a court here, officials said.

Bhatkal was given the bail against a bond of Rs.25,000 and ordered to deposit his passport with the police and not leave the country without informing the authorities.

Bhatkal, 23, was caught at Mangalore's Bajpe International Airport in Karnataka May 24 after he arrived on a flight from Dubai.

On Feb 13, a bomb ripped through the German Bakery, killing 17 people, including foreigners, and injuring 60 others.

Could you clarify why this news is not given prominence and tucked into a corner under Mumbai when it was splashed all over your publication when the person was wrongfully arrested. Again why is this news item not giving details that there was no evidence and the fact that ATS did not even name his as a suspect in any case not the Pune one or the other case

Can it get any murkier than this?

It’s a shame on the pride of the Indian Intelligence and muck on the face of ATS. A passenger returning after a short visit overseas is detained for no obvious reasons, portrayed to the world that he is the most wanted terrorist and responsible for one of the worst terrorist attack of recent times, a statement comes out from the Home Minister that they have the nations’ most wanted person in custody, a name which was not known neither to the public nor to the intelligence during and even after the course of investigation in that case suddenly crops up as the prime involved in the blast, he is flown for further questioning and investigation by the ATS to Mumbai from Mangalore and in the news all over as the man behind the German Bakery Blasts.

Then all of a sudden there’s a U turn, the prime accused of the infamous German Bakery Blasts actually had nothing to do with the Blast but was arrested for some arms involvement case. Wow! Who are you trying to fool? Why on earth don’t you accept that your investigations were flawed, there was an intelligence failure and you had arrested an innocent who had nothing to do with the blast neither arms?

ATS, To save their face and after discovering that they cannot nail him for something which he didn’t actually commit tries to implicate him in an arms case, suddenly issues a statement that they actually had caught him for arms smuggling, as if the world is sleeping, unaware, no ones watching news and not following up what’s happening around them.

Do they actually think that they can get away with such crap whenever they wish? Well actually they certainly can and we have witnessed it so many times over and over again

It proves he is innocent, otherwise he would have never been granted a bail. It shows how the police ,ATS and other security agencies are trying to trap young muslim. Now if he is innocent how he is going to live his life, with the stigma of being arrested with such an heinous crime,i pray God should give him enough courage.ATS should be made culprit in this case and they should be penalised and Samad should be adequately compensated.,so that Police and ATS will think hundred times before arresting any innocent
