Soccer Ace Beckham is Now Comic Star

Los Angeles, June 9 (IANS) British soccer star David Beckham, who will miss the upcoming FIFA World Cup due to an injury, has been immortalised in print with Bluewater Productions presenting him in a new comic book titled "Fame: David Beckham".

The 35-year-old has become the first sports star to feature in a Bluewater comic.

The comic explores Beckham's life "from his earliest days on the soccer field, when he dreamed of playing for Manchester United, to the challenges of his soccer days in the United States", the official text of "Fame" read, reports aceshowbiz.com.

"Working on the Beckham book was quite different from any other comic I've worked on to date," said Pete Rogers, the author of the book.

"Telling someone's real life story was quite a challenge, and I tried to find as many ways as possible to ensure that it was visually interesting and not just a case of 'he did this and then he did that'," he added.

The art for the comic is done by Pablo Martinena and it is set to release in September at a price of $3.99.

"Twilight" stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner have already had their lives told through a comic book. Even singers Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift have gotten the comic book treatment.
