Dubai: UAE has 1,230 new COVID-19 cases, six deaths

Dubai, Dec 26: On Friday December 25, the ministry of health and prevention of the UAE stated that the country witnessed 1,230 new cases of coronavirus infection while there were 1,386 recoveries during the same period. The UAE also witnessed six deaths due to this pandemic.

The number of new COVID-19 tests undertaken were 1,43,901. This has taken the tally of the total tests conducted in the nation so far to about 20 million. The Dubai Health Authority in the meanwhile received international recognition for being proactive in its response action plan to handle the COVID-19 challenge. This honour was bestowed by the International Hospital /federation under the programme, beyond the call of duty.

Because of covid control measures, Christmas happened to be a subdued affair under the cloud of fears about the pandemic, which is complicated by the reported detection of new virus strains in the United Kingdom. The pandemic has claimed over 1.7 million lives so far, and many countries have placed restrictions on the arrival of flights from the United Kingdom after the above discovery.
