Coronavirus: Saudi Arabia suspends air, road, sea travel for one week

Daijiworld Media Network – Riyadh (EP)

Riyadh, Dec 25: Saudi Arabia has suspended travel by air, road and sea for a week from Sunday after the outbreak of a new form of coronavirus in Britain. European countries have banned travel to Britain after the government of Britain warned of the new virus outbreak and banned flights to and from the country.

Though India had banned flights to Saudi Arabia several months ago, those with Saudi employment visas were going to UAE on visit visas and were quarantining themselves for 14 days and then travelling to Saudi Arabia.

Kannadigas Federation convener Hidayat Adkoor said that several Kannadigas travelling to Saudi Arabia have remained in hotels in UAE as they are unable to proceed to Saudi Arabia. As the travel ban by Saudi Arabia is likely to be extended further, he advised those who intend to go to Saudi Arabia through UAE or other countries to postpone their travel plans and avoid expenditure related to the hotel stay and other expenses till Saudi Arabia lifts the ban on air travel.
