Mumbai Constable Dies from Colleague's Misfire


Mumbai, May 5 (IANS) A police constable was killed Wednesday afternoon when his colleague's gun misfired at Bandra's Carter Road here, an official said.

The incident took place when constables Shyamrao Padvi and Shekhar Dighe were checking their guns at the Quick Response Team office compound near the additional commissioner's office.

"Dighe's gun misfired and the bullet hit Padvi. He died immediately," senior police inspector Prakash George said.

Padvi, 30, is survived by his wife.
