Mangalore: Nine-day Konkani Children's Residential Camp at Kalangann Concludes

Mangalore, May 5: The nine-day residential camp, “Fulondhith Konkani Thalethan” concluded at Kalaangann , recently.

Hemacharya, editor-in-chief of Daijiworld Weekly was the chief guest and Dolphy D’Souza, Youth Congress leader was the guest of honour for the valedictory function. Fiona Mascarenahs and Suraj Pinto shared their experiences at the camp. 


Participants were given away the certificates. Vaibhav D’Souza won the best participant award and took home Rs 5, 000 cash donated by Francis Fernandes Cascia. In all 43 students from various parts of the state participated in this residential camp. 
























The children were taught Konkani Language, singing, dancing and theatre. Rony Crasta, Eric Ozario, Ivan D’Silva and Merula Gibson were the chief trainers and assisted by Lavita Lobo, Delon Caldeira and Christopher D’Souza Cascia. 

Mandd Sobhann gurkaar and camp director Eric Ozario, president Louis Pinto and secretary Rony Crasta  were present on the dais. Roshni Goveas compered the programme and Merula Pinto proposed the vote of thanks. 

Later 101st monthly theatre, “Goen Gaytha, Goen Nachtha – Adhin ani Anthan” was presented by Goenchin Nokethran troupe from Goa headed by Marianela Gina Dias. They enthralled the packed audience with popular Goan Songs and dances such as, Goan dekhnni, Goan vavraddi dance, Marcha de Fontainhas (portuguese dance), Gaudi dance in opera style and Fugdi dance.

Other artistes of the troupe were Sharon Gomes  singer/ dancer; Leena Gomes   singer/dancer; Thatcher Pinto, singer/dancer; Jorge Gonsalves  singer/ dancer/ actor; Elvis Mascarenhas, singer /dancer/ actor/ percurssions, Frenzie Rodrigues, singer /dancer, Cely Fernandes, singer/dancer/ keyboards, Inacinho Sardinha, singer/dancer/ghumott, Selwyn Menezes, violin/mandolin, Sheldon Crasto, guitar and Bernardo Furtado, bass. Arun Raj Rodrigues compered the musical show.

    Congratulations & weldone Mandd Sobhann. Every year conducting Konkanne Camps for konkanni children is a great adventure in present era. I appreciat the dedication towards developing konkanni culture in young generation is remarkable by Mandd sobhann.
