Dubai: Transit passenger gets into labour, gets entry visa in 30 mins, gives birth to triplets

Dubai, Nov 4: A pregnant Syrian air passenger who was on a stopover at the Dubai airport suddenly went into labour while waiting for her flight. Seeing the situation the authorities' quickly responded and she was given an entry visa in half an hour and she gave birth to triplets at hospital.

Eman Al Aqla (29) was a transit passenger from Oman who flying to Lebanon, according to a report on Arabic daily Emarat al Youm.

Upon her arrival at Dubai for the stopover, she looked weak and exhausted. Maj-Gen Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, director-general of the emirate's general directorate for Residency and Foreigners Affairs, seeing her condition immediately arranged a special entry visa for the pregnant woman.

Visa was issued within 30 minutes and Al Aqla was immediately taken to a hospital in Abu Dhabi, where her brothers live.

Al Aqla, along with her family members in the country welcomed two healthy baby girls and one baby boy. She said she has now started the process of changing her visa status so she could stay and live in the UAE. "Anyone would dream of living in this country," she said, thanking Maj-Gen Al Marri for coming to her aid.
