Mangalore, May 2: It was a day of bliss for 25 couples as they entered the wedlock at the mass wedding ceremony held at the Rosario Cathedral on Sunday May 2. It is the 35th year that the organization, St Vincent D Paul Society is holding the ceremony.

Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza was the chief guest of the programme and blessed all the couples as a ritual. The wedding was a joyful celebration with worshipful prayer service.

Bishop also distributed the fixed deposit documents as token to the couples. St Vincent D Paul Society deposits Rs 4,000 in name of the couples. Dress material for the couple was also provided by the organizers apart from household articles presented as gifts to the couples.

In all an approximate amount of Rs 15,000 has been spent on each couple, while meals too were provided to the family members and guests of every couple. A record number of 550 couples have entered into wedlock in the last 35 years.

Parish priests of Rosario Cathedral,  Joachim Monteiro, president of St Vincent D Paul Society and secretary Philomena Lobo among others were present.
