Dubai: Thiya Samaj conducts annual general meeting, cultural event virtually amid Covid

Media Release

Dubai, Nov 1: The COVID-19 pandemic has brought with it the social distancing norms and restrictions on meetings and gatherings. But it could not deter Thiya Samaj family, who conducted their annual general meeting and cultural evening virtually on Zoom platform yesterday, i.e, Friday, October 30, 2020.

Just because in-person events are cancelled, does not mean it is impossible to attend meetings or enjoy an evening with your family or community. Thiya Samaj opened its doors virtually to all its members to attend a fun-filled weekend packed with talents exhibited by members of all age groups.

The evening was presided by Rajesh Pallikere and all the cultural events were coordinated by secretary Jasmitha Vivek along with Chandrika Rajeev and Samitha Dharmendra. The president commended the efforts of all the committee members who worked hard to make the event a huge success. It was a pleasure to welcome new members into the family and reunite with existing ones. The program was a wonderful excuse for all Thiyas to catch up and talk, and they were happy to put aside their work and take time out of their day to decompress.

Kids as little as 4-years-old participated actively by exhibiting their talents. Kids and adults showcased their flair and dedication in reciting shlokas, which was very mesmerizing. Music enthusiasts sang their hearts out and serenaded us with instrumental delights, which was very impressive. In the dance category, performers danced to the beat of the music (including tiger dance) and the dance mania caught on. The mime show also had some promising talents on display. However, it was the art and painting segment that had the most creative juices flowing. All the performances were truly commendable. There were a few mind-bending riddles as well, which kept the members laughing and thinking while creating tons of family fun. The session drew to a close with a vote of thanks proposed by vice president Amar Umesh.

Thiya Samaj is budding with talents galore and we are very lucky to have such amazing and inspiring talents amongst us. The Talent Hunt brought out the best in the children and adult members of Thiya Samaj. We can now look forward to some fascinating creative inputs from the participants in our future programs as well.
