The Mangalorean Catholic Centre of the Parish (MCCP – Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Ruwi) organized the preliminary rounds of the Gulf Voice of Mangalore 2010 on Friday, 30th April 2010 at the main parish hall of Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Ruwi.  MCCP also conducted the Annual Konkani Singing competition for the members’ children.

The program commenced around 12.00 noon with Ajith Walder, current Sports Secretary of MCCP, extending a warm welcome to the audience and the participants. Monica Dantis, Vice President – Cultural, Spiritual and Community Services, offered the prayers seeking Almighty’s blessings on the program and the participants.  Suraj Rebello, energetic President of MCCP officially welcomed the audience promising an enjoyable competition and entertaining day for every one. He also introduced the eminent adjudicators of the competition. First in line was Remy Rodrigues, the ex-president of Mangalore Konkans - Dubai, lead singer of the Konkani Community - Dubai, Rhythm and Bass Guitarist of the famous band – “The Satellites” - Dubai. The second judge was Mrs. Frenny Fernandes, ex-secretary of Mangalore Konkans and current web coordinator of St. Mary’s Konkani Community – Dubai, a passionate singer and the founder member of St. Mary’s Church Konkani Choir.  Third adjudicator was Wilfred Aloysius Pinto, well known musician of the Mangaloean community and the owner of famous ‘AudioLab’ recording studio in Dubai.  The three judges were escorted to the dais by Prescilla Machado – Vice President : Sports and Finance Committees, Monica Dantis – Vice President  : Cultural, Spiritual and Community Services Committees and Cyprian Misquith – Honorary Treasurer and presented floral bouquets by Suraj Rebello.

Tribute to the legendary Konkani composer and singer Konkan Kogul late Wilfy Rebimbus was presented Clarence Pinto, ex-president of MCCP.  Deepak D Souza, a member of late Wilfy’s troupe recounted his experience with late Wilfy Rebimbus. Apolinaris D Souza, outstanding musician of the Konkani community of Oman recited a song which was composed by late Wilfy Rebimbus. As a mark of great respect from the Mangalorean Community of Oman to late Wilfy Rebimbus, president Suraj Rebello offered a floral tribute to the portrait of Wilfy Rebimbus.

Leo Quadros, Chairman and Managing Director of Regency Developers Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore and Managing Director of Addhia Trading and Contracting LLC, Muscat, leading company in providing the fire safety solutions, was the guest of honor. Leo Quadros was also the main sponsor of the event.  He was honored with a floral bouquet by Suraj Rebello.   


MCCP had organized a competition of the Valentine Messages in their website, www.mccpoman.com and the winners of the same were announced by Reena Mathias, Public Relations Secretary.

The prize for the cutest message was awarded to Lydia Sanctis. All the winners were awarded prizes by Suraj Rebello.

Prescilla Machado proposed the vote of thanks. Lavina D Sa, Cultural Secretary announced the winners of the Gulf Voice of Mangalore – Preliminary Rounds.  Certificate of Merit was awarded to the winners by Stanley T. H. Fernandes, Donald Pinto and Clarence Pinto, ex-presidents and Core Team members of MCCP.

Winners of the Annual Konkani Singing Competition were announced by Lydia Sanctis and Leo Qaudros had the honor of presenting the winners with trophies and certificates.

The delicious lunch and evening snacks were provided by Divine Restaurant – Ruwi under the leadership of Louis Pereira.     

Suraj Rebello, the president of MCCP and his team members, Prescilla Machado, Monica Dantis,  Jessie Pereira,  Cyprian Misquith,  Lydia Sanctis, Ajith Rajesh Walder, Lavina D'Sa,  Mariete Fernandes and Reena Mathias have done a great job in organizing an enjoyable competition to the members.
