Bantwal: Bishop Inaugurates Renovated Our Lady of Loreto Church

Bantwal, Apr 30: Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza of Mangalore Diocese inaugurated and blessed the newly-renovated Our Lady of Loreto Church here on Friday April 30. 

Alex Menezes and Irene Menezes, entrepreneurs, arrived from Belgium to inaugurate the welcome arch of the Church.   

The Bishop concelebrated the Eucharistic Mass along with Loreto parish priest Fr Cyprian Pinto and other clergy arrived from all over the diocese.   

Bishop D’Souza also presided over the felicitation ceremony held at Our Lady of Loreto auditorium.   





























He also felicitated all the parish priests who served Our Lady of Loreto parish in the past and present priest Fr Cyprian Pinto by draping the shawl. 

Speaking at the occasion, the Bishop urged the parishioners to give due emphasis on educating their children who will bring laurels to the parish and parents.  He also appreciated the pastoral work of parish priest Fr Pinto and his relentless service in executing the renovation work of the church.   

Sr Lenita D’Souza, provincial superior, Ursuline Franciscan nuns, after releasing parish bulletin ‘Turbent’, and honouring the editor of the bulletin, said that their congregation had been serving humanity and promoting Christian values worldwide.  

She urged the parishioners to become strong witnesses of Christ in their life. 

Fr Rocky D’Sa, deanery vicar and parish priest of Infant Jesus, Modankap, and Dolphy Prashanth D’Souza, local social activist, honoured the donors.   

Dolphy D’Souza urged the community to extend support for good causes. 

Former state minister and local MLA Ramanath Rai said that Loreto parish priest Fr Pinto had transformed the parish in a short time and this was to be commended. He assured all possible support to the parish.  He also stressed the peaceful and loving nature of the Christian community which has contributed significantly to the society. 

Bishop D’Souza also honoured Alex Menezes and Irene Menezes and Loreto parish 70th celebration committee president Walter Noronha during the programme. 

Irene Menezes handed over the keys to two houses donated by the Loreto parish unit of St Vincent De Paul Society on the occasion. 

Santhosh Kumar Bhandary, president, DK zilla panchayat, was present on the dais. 

Loreto parish priest Fr Cyprian welcomed the gathering.  Loreto parish council vice-president Joe Coelho proposed the vote of thanks.  Roshan Pinto and Mary Pinto compered the programme.

    wonderful renovation work of the church.. ohhhsoomee work.. should thank loretto mai for doing everything sucessfull.. hats off to Fr Cyprian Pinto and everyone from loretto. i heard that function was ohsome and one of the best function held in loretto.. but i missed a lot..
