I was fortunate to attend Mr Tagore Das' programme in Dubai on 30 April. For 3.5 hours he enthralled all of us diehard Rafi fans with his choice of songs, class and stage presence. Long live Tagore Das and Rafi saab Amar rahein. An apt finale song would have been ..hum chod chale hain mehfil ko, yaad aaye kabhi to, mat rona".

Looking at today’s daijiworld image, I am once again thrilled. Wishing all the best to our own master organizer Mr. Denzil Fernandes. It's indeed commendable that someone from Mangalore has ventured into a musical event of a broader dimensions and of greater mass appeal thus conquering the last domain for a Manglorean. We all - Mangaloreans in particular - must support him so that we would get more of such quality events in the future like inviting yesteryears’ legends of Bollywood. He has staged many highly successful shows before and hence has all the expertise to do it again. Today’s venue is ‘made for such shows’ where the sound quality is excellent and seating / viewing is good. Jeete Raho Sirjee.

I am sure this is going to be a ‘COOL’ event which will keep the audience awestruck. I only hope they would render songs of much older span (say 50’s and 60’s) than of later times. Believe me, sung in the same original pitch and musical notes Rafi’s unadulterated songs are just Lajawab. This would be my play list although I do not expect Tagore to sing them all.

Meri kahani, Rukhse Zara Naqab (A Must), Jaanewalo Zara, Chaand Jane Kahan (Duet), Na Ja Kahin Ab Na Ja, Aaj Ki Raat Yeh Kaisi Raat, Aaa Gale Lag Ja (April Fool), Aja Re Aa Zara, Dil Beqararsa Hai (Ishaara), Humne To Dil Ko Aapke (Duet), Hai Duniya Usi Ki (if there is no competent Sax, don’t do this), Koi Sone Ke Dilwala, Ik hasin shaam ko, Chal Udd Jaa Re Panchhi, Duniya Na Bhaye …

    See you at Sheikh Rashid’s.
