Mangalore, Apr 24: The city police are on the look-out for a motorbike rider, who is proving to be a public nuisance.

He, along with his cronies, drives his vehicle noisily through the city streets in the middle of the night and shouts at the top of his voice.

The police were alerted to the matter after deputy commissioner (DC) V Ponnuraj brought this to their notice after experiencing the disturbance firsthand.

The biker drives on empty roads at unearthly hours as if he were a participant in some kind of bike rally and also turns tricks with his vehicle.  For instance, he sometimes rides the bike balanced on just one wheel, at high speeds, and at times three people are seen riding the bike.

The police are searching for the mystery rider and his accomplices for causing noise pollution and disturbing the people.

Police said that the sound of his altered bike and shouting by his gang members is very disturbing to the public.

The DC, in a meeting, said that he experienced the disturbance when he was sleeping at his official residence near Balmatta in the city. “The sound of the bike and horrible shouting voices disturbed me”, he said.

After the incident came to the DC’s notice the police have been searching for the miscreants all round the clock. But this seems to have tipped off the hooligan as well for there have been no further reports of disturbances since.

A shopkeeper in Balmatta area said that this had been happening for many months in the middle of the night. He said that the miscreants were the least bothered and took the bike riding as a challenge sparing no thought for other vehicles on the road or pedestrians.

Recently, the police found a bike making a similar noise and followed it but could not apprehend the driver.

They located a bike under repair at a workshop and took it to the police station. The workshop owner said that the bike had been under repair for one month and it was not in running condition.

“Due to the police officers’ demand we shifted it to the station using another vehicle”, he added. This is an instance of an innocent falling victim to another’s offence.

The police search for the crazy bike rider continues and hopefully his capture is imminent. This might finally help some residents in Balmatta area get their night’s sound sleep back.

All the credit goes to the lawyer who helped him to release the bike on time it shows genuine support to the innocent rider who is pride of mangalore.

I agree with Imran,Jubail comments."Let them ride at night & disturb our sleep,If they ride in the day time..PERMANENT SLEEP". I think readers might have forgotten Bangalore incident where 18 years old boy was doing bike stunt in the morning on the busy road.He was riding his bike with one wheel. Having seen police, rider got scared. He didn't stop when police asked him to stop. He fell down and took a shelter on the roof of a Army Brigadier's house. When guard asked him to come down, instead of coming down,he talked to his parents thorugh mobile phone in Hindi.(It happned after Mumbai Taj attack).Security guard mistook him for terrorist and shot him dead. FINISH..END..WHOM TO BLAME ? 1.Boy ? 2.Police ? 3. Security Guard ?

Some young people get the thrill of life by bothering other's peace of mind, and we can find this breed of people all over the world.

How to catch him and give him a small dose of punishment is the question. He has no respect for the society, and he thinks that he can't be caught. He may be the son of a rich businessman or a powerful politician.

After reading various comments for and against, I would like to recall the sad situation when my mother was seriously ill and could hardly get sleep. Similar bikers coming out of the nearby bar used to screech their bikes and shout, whereby my mother's heartbeat would increase uncontrollably and she suffered.
I do appreciate the fact that teenagers need to enjoy but not at the cost of peace and tranquility of the public let some civic sense prevail. This offender may be the son of a politician or an influential guy hence this guise of mystery motocyclist is given. Mangalore is not that large that police cannot apprehend the culprit.

DC Sir, there are quiet a few in Mangalore who make lot of noise, but no action is forthcoming from our beloved traffic police at Bejai Bharat Mall junction. Please catch hold of all such idiots and teach them a lesson.
Similary lot of autorickshae emits white smoke, because they use kerosene. Please get them also as the smoke is not only injurious to health of all concerned, but eyes also burns and while riding two wheelers it is difficult.
Clean up the City by introducing strict rules especially for our beloved private buses who have no rules applicable for them. Be it driving, whistling and shouting by the Conductors, two or more people giving signals and the Driver stopping any where and any time. Beloved passengers spitting from the windows as if they are in their father-in-laws garden and there is no body else nearby.

Get hold of him. Warn him and take an undertaking in wrting from his that he wont repeat it in the future. Please dont book him and dont punish him. May be he is getting a free ride of the bike from the owner. Rehabilitation is very crucial. Dont inject hate into the young hearts by punishing him and hurting his feelings. Morale counselling would definitely solve the problem. Dont be harsh to the youths for silly reasons.

If one goes on listing, there are so many such disturbances which have to be listed. Only those who are having political or bureaucratic background can survive in this society. If one does not have any background, his voice won't be heard. Two years back I complained to police about a car which hit my car and ran. Police had not taken any action despite giving car number and color of the car. He might be having political background or might have bribed the police. Only fittest can survive.

This is clearly indicating that Police force in Mangalore not carrying out any night patrolling in the city and enjoying people like terrorist, gundas and thieves etc…….and disturbing common peoples. Now this is important becoz of DC got disturbed otherwise?????????
DC sahib….. many ex-serviceman’s are job less in the city and they know how to control over on those cases and they well known about the law also, better if form a ex-serviceman night patrolling team in Mangalore city and give them area of responsibility with regulations and authorities.

And the way they drive is also a nuisance too!! How many ppl have been crushed and how many vehicles have been damaged by them?! and all this happens during the day time in broad day light.. I am surprised the DC hasn't woken up to this!

Once I happened to encounter one of these boys with helmet on and I had warned him to stop this. These young bloods do not know how to release their extra charged energy hence doing such tricks which can break others as well as their bone but who care.
I wish the authority create an open race track ground for such bike racing kids like how they suggested in Bangalore. Some kids can show their expertise in such safer place instead of doing such stunts in the middle of night for want of clear track.

My dear D.C.- Mr.Ponnuraj & all Traffic Dept. Heads, pls read the traffic rules book & try to do your duty honestly. Now you are searching for a bike rider, how sad??. Go & stand for few hours in NH-17 near Kuloor,Suratkal, Udupi how many traffic offenders you will find with in few minutes!! No need to search. In Mangalore traffic history few months back only once you stopped vehicle & removed few vacuum horn funnels from the local busses. Thats your achivement, very next day onwards they started again riding with the vacuum horns? Whats your Traffic Police are doing?
Everyday even with in the City area people riding their Vehicle with Head light using straight beem on. Which will disturb the opposit side vehicle driver & might lead to accident.
You will also find drivers overtaking on the single track bridges. Bus drivers drives with out uniform is common.
Even people overtakes the other vehicle from left hand side. In new dual roads vehicles coming from wrong side just in opposit direction to use short cuts.
Now my dear DC, this is not the responsibilities of the Traffic Police Department?? It is really funny to see the bunches of Traffic Polices during Minister's visit. Ministers life is valuable for them & the poor people dies daily due to road accidents has no value for their life.
This is our developing contry called India. God bless us.

This sort of bike speeding and so on has become very common and sometime ago public had drawn the attention of the authorities too, without any action. Now since the DC saw the rpoblem for him self it has become important. Why is no investigation done or checks made when members of the public complain? Is this a RAJ only for high, mighty and rich? It's time that a better rule is established!
