Sharjah: Psychiatrist arrested for prescribing psychotropic drugs to youth

Sharjah, Oct 10: A psychiatrist has been arrested by Sharjah police after he prescribed psychotropic drugs to young people. The Ministry of Health and Prevention, MoHAP, has cancelled his license and removed his credentials from the medical registry.

The arrest has been made by Department of Narcotics Control. The psychiatrist had prescribed psychotropic drugs without having any medical conditions.

As per police many young people aged 20 to 30 years were frequently visiting a psychiatric clinic in Sharjah. During the police operation a person was sent to the clinic by police, who asked the doctor to prescribe psychotropic drugs. The doctor accepted the request and prescribed the drugs.
