Udupi, Apr 16: Manisha D’Souza, a national level shuttle and badminton player, was felicitated jointly by her school authorities and Taluk Physical Teachers’ Association, here recently. Manisha is a Class IX student of St Mary’s English Medium High School.



Achievements:

Manisha bagged first place in state level shuttle badminton for under-14 age group held at Chikmagalur in 2006. She also participated in the national level badminton tournament held in Rajanandagaon at Chittisgarh.

She won second place in the badminton tournament conducted by Karnataka Secondary Education department for under-14 age group at Belgaum.  She secured the eleventh place in national level tournament held at  Panchakula, Haryana.

She bagged second place in state level competition conducted by Karnataka Secondary Education department in 2008.  She also participated in the national level competition organized by School Games Federation of India held in Vishakapatnam at Andhra Pradesh.



She secured  first place in the state level Dasara badminton tournament held at Mysore in 2008 and participated in the thirty fourth National Sports Federation for women held in Hamirpur at Himachal Pradesh in 2008.  She also bagged the talent award announced by Children and Women Welfare department of Karnataka government for achievement in the sports field in connection with Children’s Day during 2008.

She won first place in the state level badminton competition held at golden jubilee badminton court, Manipal in 2009.  She secured the first place in the state level Dasara sports held at Mysore during October 2009 and was selected for the national level in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh in the same year.

She bagged the second place in state level shuttle badminton organized by Karnataka Secondary Education department held at Chikmagalur in 2009.  She secured the second place and a silver medal at the national level competitions held at Pune, Maharastra in 2009.

She was also honoured by district Women and Children’s Welfare department at Rajangan, here during Women’s Day celebration.
