Konkans in Kuwait Pay Tribute to Konkan Kogul

Kuwait, April 10:  Wilfy Rebimbus shocked the world when he breathed his last on 9th March 2010. In his untimely death, Konkani has suffered an immense loss which cannot be replaced. He is not with us physically but his songs will remain in our hearts forever.  A month’s mind Holy Mass for the repose of the  soul of late Wilfy Remimbus was offered at St. Therese Church – Salmiya Kuwait on 10th  April 2010 at 5.00 PM followed by a condolence meeting at  Indian Community Girls School – Salmiya.

The program was arranged by Lawrence Pinto and Louis Rodrigues who were close associates of Late Wilfy Rebimbus and also organizers of 2008 super hit Konkani REALITY show GULF VOICE OF MANGALORE.   The program started with formal welcome by Jaison Lasrado followed by inviting guests to the dais.  Writer Dolpy Cascia, Fr. John Harry D’Souza, Goan stage and movie actor Cajatian Sauordin Pereira, Archie Menezes, Roney D’Cunha, Gration D’Souza, Francis D’Souza, Pascal Pinto and Jyothi Noronha (Colaco) were among the dignitaries who were present.





























Fr. John Harry D’Souza offered flowers and incense to the photograph of late Wilfy Remimbus on everyone’s behalf.  Francis D’Souza along with Roney D’Cunha, Gration D’Souza and Joy Fernandes (Guitar) sung the hymn “Amcha Bapa” written and originally sung by Wilfy Rebimbus.  Fr. Harry spoke few words with reference to Wilfy’s songs whereas Dolphy Cascia spoke on Wilfy’s drama and mentioned Wilfy was a complete package as a singer, writer, composer, actor and poet.  

Roney’s song “Saanz Zalire” and Gration’s “Jivithanthre Monsha” was a perfect tribute for Wilfy Rebimbus.  Cajatian Sauordin Pereira explained how Wilfy Rebimbus was also famous in Goa. Francis D’Souza expressed his experience with Wilfy when he acted in his dramas.  Louis Rodrigues who brought Wilfy first time to Kuwait in 1985 expressed his experience at that time.  Lawrence Pinto who was close to Wilfy’s family who also organized Mangalore and Goan musical evening together along with Wilfy, spoke few words on his past experience.  Jyothi Noronha/Colaco who is part of Joas XLNC for dance was very sentimental while speaking about Wilfy.  She was giving dance shows in Wilfy nites throughout from his 150th to 200th nite in India. 

All of the dignitories were highlighted Wilfys down to earth nature which is unique and rear with any public figure.  Jaisan Lasrado proposed vote of thanks and program came to an end with a tribute dance from Ballerines.
