Mangalore: Delegation of Gujarat MLAs Extends Invitations for Swarnim Gujarat

  A delegation of the members of legislative assembly (MLA) from Gujarat state is on a visit to the city for meeting Gujaratis settled here to invite them to participate in the golden jubilee (Swarnim Gujarat) celebrations of the formation of their state, which will be on for a year.


The delegation headed by Saurabhbhai Patel, minister of state with nine portfolios including civil aviation, cottage industries and planning, briefing about the golden jubilee celebrations of Gujarat at a press meet held here on Saturday April 10, said that the delegation has been interacting with Gujaratis settled in the city, and requesting them to participate in the celebrations. The state government has planned to invite all the native citizens of the state spread across the world to participate in the golden jubilee, he added.
 
The celebrations have already started and the main celebrations to mark the golden jubilee will be held from Friday April 30 to May 2, 2010, he revealed, adding that all are invited for the celebrations. The same delegation will travel different parts of the state including Bangalore and Mysore, to invite the Gujaratis settled there, he informed.      
 
The state of Gujarat will celebrate the golden jubilee of its creation by carving it out of Maharastra state in 1960, he said.  
 
The celebrations have begun with the launching of  `Swarnim Rath (centenary chariot)’ which will travel all over the state, he said. 
 
The state government has mainly concentrated on development aspects, and it is the fastest growing state in India, he pointed out, adding that Gujarat has taken up speacial initiatives to develop the infrastructure, educational facilities and human resources development.
 
The delegation members, Punaben Jat, MP from Kutch, MLAs,  Govindbhai Patel from Rajkot constituency, Kanthibhai Lakum from Balva, Gitaben Patel from Sabarmathi, Jyotsnaben Patel from Anand, Upendrasinh Gohil from Vadodara, Narayanbhai from Unjha,  S Jagadeeshan, managing director of Sardar Sarovar Narmada Corporation, and Mangalore South MLA, Yogish Bhat, were present at the press conference.
