Sreesanth Fined for Breaching IPL Code of Conduct

Jaipur, April 8 (IANS) Kings XI Punjab pacer Sreesanth has been fined $9,000 for showing "dissent" at an umpire's decision during their Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Rajasthan Royals Wednesday.

"Sreesanth has been fined for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct. Sreesanth pleaded guilty to a level 1 offence which relates to showing dissent at an umpire's decision," IPL said in a statement.

Match referee Srinivas Venkataraghavan fined Sreesanth 20 percent ($9,000) of his match fee for the offence.

The incident took place in the third over of the Rajasthan Royals innings when Sreesanth was twice no-balled and was hit by Michael Lumb for a four in the free-hit. This infuriated the bowler who first clapped at Lumb and then at the umpires.

Gladson,Bvr..What a fitting reply to those who criticise without knowing Srishant's extra-ordinary talent. Srishant was the Man of the match in South Africa where India registered their first test victory. Srishatnt was the Man of the match in T-20 World cup Semi final where he clean bowled Ghilcrist & Hayden with is deadly inswingers. In the final, Srishant was the man who caught Misbah ul Haq when Misbah thought that no one was there.

Had he dropped that catch,Pakistan would have won the world cup ! Legend Bowler Akram once said " Pace bowler can't bowl with a smile, they should at least pretend that they are deadly " Yes..we need arrogant bowler to attack arrogant players like aussies. Aussies,English started sledging..now we have improved it. Right now Srishant's form is bad. But remember Sunny's words " FORM IS TEMPORARY..CLASS IS PERMANENT"

This man has talent which most of the Indian bowlers except Zaheer Khan do not have. When gets going he is just unplayable. Currently he is the only Indian bowler who can swing the ball either way at over 140 mph consistently. Look at the seem position whenever he delivers the ball. It is just upright and delight to watch. Sure he has an attitude! But banning him won't do any good either to country or to the bowler. Why isn't BCCI thinking of rehabilitation or counselling. He bowls with lot of passion and energy.

Our problem is that if same kind of attitude is shown by Aussies or even players of other country (actually most of them do. Take for example Merve Hughes, McDermett, Mcgrath, Andy Bichel or even Mitchell Johnson or Stuart Clerk. Do not forget either Andre Nel or even Allan Donald). A fast bowler with attitude and passion is just like a bowling machine just like Nehra.

Sreesanth surely has to improve his EQ but that does not mean he would gain it by banning. He is an attention-seeker much like Bhajji and I guess much more talented than Bhajji. He only needs some counselling with rehabilitation and guidance. True cricket is Gentleman's game. But anyone with passion and emotions isn't a gentleman either, I guess! If Sree controls his emotions to certain extent just like he controls the swing and movement of the ball, we have a world-beater in our team.

When compared to many of the Indian bowlers he is just an ordinary and a temperamental bowler. There are lot of yongters who are doing better than him in domestic cricket and IPL. I donot understand how he is still surviving in Indian Cricket.

Every game he has to do something or the other. Very immature player, bringing disrepute to Cricket which is called a Gentlemans game. He should take an example of Senior Cricketers who have behaved in a gentlemanly both on and off the field like Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid. Come on Sreesanth stop your gimmicks on the field. You should have been fined more so that next time you will improove.

This cranky face is last year's IPL when he got slap from Bhajji. This guy will never learn because he does not know basic, decent human behaviour. He disrespects the gentleman's game. He is lucky to have Priety Zinta to console him. He also talks too much. Next offence and he should be banned permanently.

BCCI should take action for these kind of Controversy. This is not first or second time happening with him. BAN him at least for 2 years. Then only he will realize.
