Mangalore, Apr 6: Governor H.R. Bhardwaj has called upon people of the State to live in harmony by following their respective religions and respecting one another.

He was addressing a gathering at the Urs celebrations of Sayed Mohammed Shereful Madani Dargah at Ullal on Monday.

The Governor, who spoke in Urdu, said that he would uphold the Constitutional values and spirit in the State.

The Constitution had given the right to people of all religions to live cordially. None of the religions could claim that the country belonged to it.

Mr. Bhardwaj said that unity in diversity was the strength of the country. It should be maintained at all costs.

He urged the people not to take the law into their hands for any reason. Places of worship should not face any trouble. People should not hate any religion. They should try to understand the values of every religion, the Governor said.

Stressing the importance of education, he said Muslim and Christian institutions had contributed immensely to the growth of education by opening several institutions in the State. Education had the power to wipe out ignorance, he said.

Bishop of Mangalore Aloysius Paul D'Souza said that the Uroos celebrations should become a forum for strengthening brotherhood among people and maintaining cordial relations between religions.

Kolya Ramananda Swamiji said that people of all faiths visited the Ullal dargah. The former Union Minister Oscar Fernandes, MLA U.T. Khader, K. Abhayachandra Jain and Gopal Bhandary spoke.

    Anamika,

Visiting grave and asking Allah for His mercy to the inmates of grave is perfectly aliright. Visiting grave is a reminder of our death and final resting place and its not more than that. Visting grave is ziyarah. But this ziyarah with pomp and show, with all celebrations, allocating a day for visit, sandals, etc is not as per Islam. Uroos means in arabic marriage. Are thse people marrying every year???

Secondly prophet before his death instructed his cousin and son in law Ali (RA) to destroy all high risen graves and prayed Allah to spare his grave from becoming a place of worship. He also said, whose grave is built, raised and covered, no angel s of mercy would enter that grave. Now its upto ur knowledge to make judgement between right and wrong. Oh Allah give us light and guide us to the true path, the path that you love and not the path we incurr your wrath. aameen.

The submission of man to his Creator is the essence of Islam. All of this materialistic progress lead you astray. Allah (God) does not want man to be enslaved to any false deity: nature, drugs, lust, money, other man, desir, or sex. He provides man with the proofs that he is the One who can redeem so that man can free himself from the slavery to any form of creation and to turn to his creator alone.Allah (God) has perfect attributes. He is the first, nothing is beforeh him, the ever living. To him is the final return where everyone will be dealt with in the most perfect and just way. He does not begot nor he is begotten.

Doing a 'Qabr Ziyarath' (visiting a grave) is supported in Islam and making Dua for everyone is important! We should follow the descipline whenever we visit the grave and we must consider them as they are alive in our eyes. Prophet (S.A) used to visit the grave of sahaba and did Dua for evryone. It is sunnath to visit a grave but we must be aware that, we are not approaching a grave to worship but only to have Allah's bless through Ouliyas.

    Anamika/Mangalore,

The answer to your question is "Praise thy Lord" "Worship the Creator". Only Prophet Mohamed has been granted the previlige of "tavassul" and "shifa'a" (intercession) and nobody else. For further details, read and analyse the meaning of Ayathul Kursi and Surah Fatiha" Thats enough for a man with little brain.

Oh God grant us your mercy and show us the true path and enlighten us from your light and dont put us in darkness. We seek refuge in you for doing whats is not prescribed on us. Oh God please protect us from deviation from your path.

Dear Commentators don't just beat around the bush. Be open and specific in your comments. I sense Mujahid and Jamth Islami Ideology in some of the comments. The Mujahid Ideology took birth after Ibun Abdul wahab and Ibun theemiya. Till their entrance no one in the islamic world opposed thavassul and isthigasa.Do not judge by your limited knowledge.

Nice comments by Shahnawaz. When this people understand Allah(SWA) and his Prophets(SAWS)way, this way of Ibadha will remove from their heart and this is not the way of Prophets(SAWS)called Allah(SWA) alone in his Ibadha. Ya Allah save us from your torn punishment here and hereafter.
