Bangalore: BJP Reaches Magical Figure – Rises to Power in BBMP

Bangalore: BJP Reaches Magical Figure – Rises to Power in BBMP
Daijiworld Media Network – Bangalore (SP)

Latest Positions: at 02.40 pm IST

Total Seats : 198
Result Announced : 192
BJP: 110
Congress: 61
JDS: 14
Others: 7

Bangalore, Apr 5: Proving many political pundits wrong, the BJP rose to power in the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike, bagging 98 seats in the 198-seat corporation. As the local MLAs and MPs too have a right to vote in the council election, the BJP has been assured of a clear majority in this civic body.

Yeddyurappa’s plans to postpone hiking the water rates and milk prices till the conclusion the BBMP election, seem to have borne fruits. As at 12.35 pm, the party’s tally stood at 98, as against 59 of the Congress, and 12 of the JDS. Independents have bagged six seats.

The debacle of the JDS, which expected to ride high on the issue of Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises by rallying around thousands of farmers against this project, has given rise to fresh worries for JDS supremo, Deve Gowda, and his sons, Revanna and Kumaraswamy. The BJP leaders, who expected to suffer a bit because of the low voter turn out, are smiling broadly.

It now remains to be seen as to whether Yeddyurappa will be able to lift Bangalore to the international standards as promised by him.

Bangalore: BBMP Results Trickle In – BJP Heading Towards Majority (9.00am IST)

Bangalore, Apr 5:  Even after nearly two hours after the counting relating to the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike election started, a clear mandate has not emerged, with the Congress and the BJP emerging way ahead of the JDS, in the leads and victories announced so far. 198 constituencies of the city had gone to the polls on March 28.

Out of the results announced so far, three wards have been won by the BJP, Congress has bagged five seats, and two seats have gone to the JDS, with one seat going to an independent.

As far as the leads are concerned, BJP is ahead in 43 wards, Congress is leading in 23 wards, JDS is ahead  in seven wards while the independents are leading in two constituencies.

Horamavu ward has gone to the BJP, with its candidate, Tejaswini Raj, getting elected. Neelasandra and Devarajeevanahalli wards have been bagged by the Congress Party, whose candidates, Lokesh and R Sampatraj, have won from these wards respectively.

BJP’s Nanjudappa won from the  J P Park, with the Gandhinagar ward going to S Nagaraj of the Congress. Karisandra ward also went to the Congress, as its candidate, Jyoti S Reddy, won from there. BJP came out victorious in Kottigepalya constituency. Herohally went to Hanumanthe Gowda of the JDS. Domlur and Bilakehally went to the BJP, as its candidates, Geeta and Roopa won respectively. Somebody compared BJP's rule to Kumaraswamy's and SM Krishna's Chief Ministership.  Kumaraswamy became CM becoz of BJP and now what happened after their seperation? BJP has became the clear winner in the State and another term also I'm sure BJP will capture the CM post. And talking about SM Krishna.Being a CM,Krishna gave attention only to Bengaluru and in village side he did nothing. No proper development was made during his rule and as a result, congress got less seats in 2004 assembly election.

This made Deve Gowda to share the CM gaddi with Congress and Dharam Singh became the CM and he was dancing according Deve Gowda's tunes and no developments were done during Congress JDS rule.I have been in Bengaluru since 30 yrs and I have seeing lot of developments in Bengaluru when BJP shared the Government with Congress. And after Yediyurappa became the CM never before namma Bengaluru became so popular and developed.

Every road has been repaired, new layouts have been started,we cant help day by day population increases in Bengaluru there is water problem, power problem and all these bcoz of more incoming population.More and more people from other States and other towns are coming to Bengaluru to settle down. Why this is so because of its improvement and development in Bengaluru city.Whoever becomes the CM,corruption will be there, but they should look after the people of our State..especially the improvement in Bengaluru City.Congrats BJP and all the best in your new assignment in BBMP.

    Dear Shahnawaz
It is to be noted whatever the verdict is peoples and you should abide by the verdict. This result is only because of the strainuous efforts put in by in all round development of the State by Shri Yediyurappaji and the results are showing now.

You have every right to critisize a person for not doing the work allotted to him. Only criticise for the sake is uncalled for. Appreciate if they have done good work.

Keep my word that this government will last as long as Congress and JDS in disarray and I do not think there will any respite for them in future as well.

    Mr Jatin/mangalore,

My friend I agree with you. BJP must stop promoting hate and communual legacy. If they do that I shall change my opinion on them and start supporting them. I dont consider myself as minority as I was born Indian and shall die Indian. I am an Indian first. As long as they promote division and hate, I shall continue to write against them. If they preach and practice love I would love them, embrace them and I promise you that I shall work for them until my last breathe.

BJP has mining money and lot of loots on sanctioned money for Mandir Jirnoddara... Money Power and using religion is the only reason BJP is rocking. I do agree the hardwork of RSS and Management skills to bring BJP to lead even though BJP argued in the beginning there is no link to RSS and BJP. Congress is still sleepy... RSS is creating ID card and bringing to home for BJP Supporters and lot of names of muslims taken out from voter list is the second reason for the lead...But this is not Democratic Funda...the day will come people know the truth...I dont think BJP can attack foreign investors due to their injustice on Indian citizenship on the basis of religion.. NRI's are taken out from the voter list even though India's real development started on NRI's income... nobody can say no to this if they know real figures of money inflow...

Just imagine, the frustration they used to have reading your different versions of vadis.Only thing i know is that iam a Hindu and all your different vadis does not matter. Aryans came first or Byran came first doesnot matter. What matters right now is BJP has won with a unbelivable majority and you have totally become speechless and dumb struck!!

Well here are results in front of you!!

Congressmen, I have a simple question and solution for you, I know you will never listen, but let me ask you anyway.

Why you think Bangarappa, Moily and Dharm are better rulers than Yediyurappa?

Give me one reason, with straight face, I will accepet it.

If not, compulsorily retire all of them, I dont mind making all of them Governors!!!

Retire Deshpande(Defeated in last assembly election from Haliyal) and Siddu(see what words he has used against congress and Sonia in the past) too.

Bring fresh blood, you will see results in next 3 years.

If not , take my word you will get same results forever.

BJP won because of total developmental works carried by Yediurappa. Now BJP has more responsibility as people of Bangalore has given more opportunity to show more development. All BJP elcted candidates should work for better and green bangalore.

for Congress and JDS they should stop criticising BJP and learn from the actions taken by People. JDS has lost because of Deve Gowda and this party is going to die soon. Deve Gowda should be ashamed for arranging the farmers and stopping the development work.

25 % of state population live here and are providing nealy 32% revenue.
Now chanalise all effort to Bangalore all-round growth. Keep a minister for bangalore development only. Let him not have any other potfolio.
With this mandate start PANCHAYATH election.
NOW WORK 24 X 7 and provide power to all parts of Bangalore. Seperate POWER STATION to BANGALORE is a must. Growth without power is no use. All factories must get clean energy.

A city without proper roads, water supply and power supply is called the Silicon Valley of India!! This is one of the biggest jokes about Bangalore. Political leaders, please make a trip to the neighbouring states and have a look.
BJP's victory can be termed as 'Kurudara rajyadalli okkannane raja'(In a state of blind, one eyed jack is the king). It's not the credibility of BJP which has brought them victory but due to the weakness of a spineless opposition.
Every sensible Bengalurian is the mute witness to the Money power, Muscle power and other allurements used by all the political parties in these elections. The idea of democracy almost felt as 'whya....ck'.
BJP is in power since two years in Karnataka. Just go to any of the government offices, feel sick of the corruption there. It,s a common saying in Bengaluru: 'All parties are corrupt, but BJP is their tuition master in corruption'. Only God should save this state.

Bindas they will loot in the day itself.  I had lot of hopes on yediyurappa. But he proved is weak CM ever Karnataka Had.  What is the solution?....Only educated segment(PUC & above) should be eligible to cast their vote. Also, voters should not have more than Two childrens. Is it possible to make this Rule in India? If yes...u can dream/think big.If not..stop thinking big.You have no option other than chosing another "CHORE" who is coming to you & looting your hard earned penny now & then till u die.

Congress should realise one important thing thatis they should the Candidate at least before six to one year in advance, so that the candidate contact his voters or take developmentatal work or convince the people what he will do if elected. Yes, if they the candidate well in advance, some of the aspirant people/supporters may leave the party for not getting the tickets. party should not mind for that. Those who wants to leave will definatly desert the party whether he get the ticket or not. But the elected candidate will have lot of time to convince the voters regarding his develomental works etc. This this Congress should keep in mind in punchayat/Taluk elections.

While it's celebration time for BJP, it is as usual time to mourn for Cong and JD (S). Despite the huge victory margin, BJP can't claim that victory is due to its accomplishments. The victory is largely due to the incompetancy of opposition. Speaking in terms of merits, none of these parties deserve a victory since their contribution for the welfare has been one and the same. Unless the Broadband leaders of the Cong are shown the door and leadership is passed on to some young hands, it will continue to slump further. With regards to JD (S), their fate is almost sealed and the writing is clearly on the wall. Actually they don't have a clear vote bank. They bank on voters who are either angry with Cong and BJP. So naturally as long as Cong and BJP are able to maintain their vote bank, JD (S) has nothing to gain. Meanwhile a fair study of missing names in voters' list must be done. My own extended family members who had voted in the last Assembly election were not eligible this time around since their names were missiing. Among the 6 votes that our family had in Bangalore, only 2 were on list while 4 others were missing. When asked officials, they hardly give any answer other than using some abusive language. So a complete study of this 'Missing Names Saga' will tell the exact story. Would govt dare to initiate this study since it has more to lose than gain if it is done. A casual study has already stated that names of Minorities are missing in major numbers. Is it right Mr CM

All the writers who are miffed at BJP win should accept the fact that people have chosen tyhe party to represent them in the civic body.
In democracy its poeple above everything else and even oponents should accept defeat with dignity.
Its good that the party in the civic body is also at ruling the state , hence it augurs well for a better coordination in developmental work.. Also for no blame game and buck passing on development works when the citizen get to vote the next time around.
Lets Hope the new body can work for the betterment of the civic conditions in the city.

Someone calling bangalore voters as 'fools' or 'cheated ones', should go back & check their statements. Bangaloreans know erxactly to vote for the ppl from the party which is ruling the state. I would say, if congress was in power in state, BBMP qwould have won by congress. Reason being simple… The party which is in power in state can do more work than the other parties together.
One more advantage BJP had during BBMP elections - Bad mouthing by Congress & JDS…! Think of one project which went thru without CONG/JDS objecting or bad mouting it..!! Whatever Yeddi wanted to do, Siddu, Gowds, RVD etc were their to interept..!! Even hon. Governer was their to peep his nose..!! The way Congress & JDS used to accuse the BJP govt for the power crisis is more than good example…!! I wonder how different was the sitiuation when congress/jds ruled..!!

Message for BJP - Congrations on the win…. Now get back to work & show us what you can do. You prove something or you will be in the same position where congress/JDS are sitting now.

Suggestion to Congress : Go back & put your thinking caps on. When someone tries to do some work, support it rather than criticise for the sake of doing it. Sitting in opposition doesn’t mean "go out & oppose" everything.

Suggestion to JDS : Stop bad mouting first. Someone else is trying to "Development" which you guys never heard of..!!

Politics is not without corruption anywhere…! But when there is proportionate of work done, ppl will forget the other

BJP however good it is at governance(which I think is worse than congress) is basically communal party. It believes in anti-minority politics which in long term is bad for india and its people. Our strength is in our unity and secular ethos. BJP has already showed its true color in mangalore and mysore. We have good policies but no task masters to implement. Most of the politicians need to earn their respect serving all unbiased, irrespective of religion, cast, creed, political affiliation. There is need for developmental politics. As citizens its our right to chose right candidate in given lot and get the improvement for the locality. If every corporator works selflessly and for the betterment of the society there is no reason why Bangaluru cannot be compared to New York for its safety, security, infrastructure etc. There will be peace among residents.

It is good that the BJP has won the BBMP elections. I remember the immediate action of BJP in speeding up of pending works of Metro, Fly-Overs, Urban Roads, etc soon after the present BJP Govt. came to power. They can really do things in a better and faster way compared to Cong (I) and/or JD (S). I am very happy about the results. My only wish is that the BJP shall make use of this opportunity to develop Bangalore in the best possible way with least possible disturbance to the citizens. I strongly hope that they would do it. I wish all the best to Sri BSY, KSE and all the BJP candidates (Now, Corporators) who have won the election.

I reckon that this is indeed a positive result, because people are giving a clear mandate instead of a mixed one ( The Karnataka State election where BJP emerged with a majority, and the Lok Sabha Election where UPA emerged with a comfortable majority). This election result results are also reinstating the fact that people want stability in any form of governance - be it at the Centre, State or the City. I hope this trend continues.
Unfortunately, the voter turnout is a disappointing aspect of this election and hope this improves in the future.

    2. Who propagated urea scandle? As soon as BJP came to power, the next day the problem started. How can you hold a new responsible for this act?
    3. Power problem? People should know the basics, to build a power plant of any type, it takes 4 - 6 years. Who failed in planning to meet the demand?
    4. People should get educated & work for their salary, then they will understand who is the honnest person to be elected.

I am sure you will accept this fact that, even SC, STs and Dalits who were in one of most gack ward state in the country pre independence has come up and doing well ( you can see this is all govt. offices today) but,not the minorities esp. our muslims brothers. It hurts me, my brothers are not able to understand the poisoned mind of congress leaders? So, do not be biased.. take part in BJP also and make it secular as you think by keeping the national interest atmost important. we surely need an alternative national party.

Because BJP have got the mandate it should not take it as easy going and unnecessary put burden to the people then in assembly election the result may be different . Congrats BJP and to all winning candidates. People reposed faith in Mr.Yediyurappaji as CM as he has always strived to provide efficient administration in the state. Inspite of hardships like natural calamities and man made calamities by Redyys and congress he has stood tall and ever energetic to take our state ahead in terms of job creation, economic & infrstructure development etc., You have done a wonderful work Mr.Yediyurappaji. I Hope you fulfill the promises made to the elctrorate unlike congress.

ISMAIL K PERINJE, PERINJE-YANBU-KSA i pity your grumble and excuse, that money power is used to win elections when BJP wins, HOW CAN YOU SAY THAT SITTING IN SAUDI? do you think congress is saint? whatever evils ywe observe today in India is the gift of congress to this country. its ben congress which has been bribing votes to vote for them and you ppl blindly vote them. We have to accept the results and Congratults the Winners. Also following may be considered for better results in future elections.
    1. Those who voted should be given good credits (Give some loyalty points and decide preference in BDA site, encouraging discounts in tax paying etc)
    2. Those who did not vote even though name was in the list should be given bad credits (No need to cut any thing)
    3. Action should be taken against missing voters in the voters list.
or against the concerned officers for including them.

Now a day’s elections are fought over media. The voter profile has changed greatly. Unfortunately, Congress party doesn’t understand the same. It still thinks in the old fashioned manner.

The party is not having right people to represent it in media. There are only one or two guys who talk in a very balanced manner. One is Mr. B.L.Shankar. Other one was Mr. D.B.Chandre Gowda who is now with BJP. Somehow Congress is sidelining Prof. Chandrashekar.

Today Mr. Dinesh Gundu Rao appeared on one channel. He was trying to outsmart by turning the plate upside down. It was a pity. Congress has to put entirely new set of people who are well educated, well groomed and media-savvy to appear on TV Channels and Press Conferences. Then only it can think about convincing the people.

Secondly, as a national party it should not think about alliances with small parties and it should maintain its dignity. Unfortunately even yesterday/day before yesterday they were talking about alliance with JD(S), which shows their lack of self confidence.
