Mangalore, Apr 3:  Sri Vishwesha Teertha Swami of Pejavar Mutt opposed the land bank project proposed by the state chief minister, in a protest organized by the environmental and social organizations here on Saturday April 3, by stating that the land bank project is targeted at attracting industrialists, but acquiring fertile agriculture land for the industries should not happen in the coastal district.

Addressing protesters in front of the deputy commissioner’s office in the city, he said that the lands in the district have been targeted by industrialists and the Special Economic Zone, and due to this, farmers are losing their livelihood. “It is not only a question of losing land but also losing of culture, tradition, and lifestyle of the region”, he said.

“If the land bank project is established and it starts acquiring agricultural land, I will take the decision to start an indefinite fast”, said the Swamiji.

Chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, after his meeting in Mumbai, said that several industrialists from the metro are interested in investing in the state and land banks will be established in districts to provide them land to establish their industries. As per the chief minister’s statement, the land banks will acquire the land to allot industries.

“I had a meeting with chief minister B S Yeddyurappa on MSEZ a month ago and was assured of a detailed discussion soon. During that time I will urge for protection of the farmers’ interests as well as agricultural land”, he said.

The protest was organized by Nagarika Seva Trust, Guruvayanakere, and other environmental and social organizations to demand protection of land, culture, and tradition of the coastal district.

Sri Mohanadasa Swami of Shri Dhama, Manila, Sri Esha Vittaladasa Swami of Sandipani Mutt, and others along with leaders and members of organizations participated in the whole day’s protest held at Nehru Maidan in the city.

Land Bank is nothing but real estae company of BJP govt.BJP stands for bussiness in the name of development.Even ther is chance for an BJP MLA becoming chairman of said Land (dubbious) Bank.

Pejavar Mutt seer no need to associate with Nagarika Seva samithi Guruvayankere.Seer have good rapport with state BJP govt and he have complete cotrol over BJP bigwigs of state and Centre. His lukewarm response now and then which is not consistence in his approch towards the issue makes us feel his non committal to the very serious issue of poor farmers of Karnataka.

Perhaps,I,presume that the Suvarna Corridor development project land aquire was witdrwan by Govt due to Seers pressure coupled with locals agitation.

Mr Langoolacharya Belman, only one or two time visiting Harijan Keri is not solving core issue, untouchability.Consistance mingling and bringing them to main stream way of life would do justice to them.Even now Harijans are Persona non grata in temples of undivided DK.Do you agree Mr L.Acaharya ?????

    Mr Langoolacharya/Belman,

How come a person become holy if he is committed to hate, devision and beleives in untouchability. The soul should be holy and by wearing saffron garments no one becomes holy. One should be spiritually and functionally holy.

Let the Pejawar seer draw his inspiration from Shri Kemaru seer, shown in the picture. Two seers with oposite ideologies.

    Bulsam, Mangalore,

Pejavar Swamiji is very dedicated, spiritual and holy person. He was first swami to go to harijan houses in early 50s inspite of threats by other swamis of that time.

You may find him like mentor to VHP, Uma Bharathi but nobody can take him for granted.

He is close to Yediyurappa and VS Acharya, but dont be surprised some day if he comes openly against them if he finds them in wrong side.

I dont agree with him in Cow issue, but i think he truely believes in it....

Last but not least he is not Swami Nityananda...., during recent paryaya he did some soul searching to other swamies of mutt about chastity....

The Swamiji’s act of communal harmony should reflect in his deeds for humanity and not for only Hindu community.
