Mine Owners Attacked in Bellary, CM Directs Police to take Action

Bellary/Bangalore, Mar 29 (PTI) : Three mine owners, on whose plea the Supreme Court recently stayed mining operations of a company owned by the powerful Reddy brothers--who are Karnataka ministers, were attacked today by an eight-member gang in Bellary.

The unidentified men attacked Tappal Ganesh and two of his brothers, owners of the TNR mining company, when they were waiting outside a hotel to meet the Survey of India team set up by the apex court to determine whether reserved forest areas have been encroached by the Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC)in Andhra Pradesh.

The OMC is owned by G Janardhana Reddy. The Reddy brothers -- Janardhana and Karunakara -- are Karnataka Ministers and mining magnates.

The assailanats, who came in a car and were armed with sticks, also beat up four journalists present there before fleeing the scene, police said.

The Reddy brothers rejected charges that they were behind the incident while Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa directed the police to take action against those involved.
"Such charges were being hurled against us since four years. We are not involved in the attack", Karunakara Reddy told reporters.

"Let there be a survey of the mining areas from an international body. We are not afraid of it. The on-going survey by the Supreme Court appointed Survey of India team is going on smoothly", he added.

Yeddyurappa on his part told reporters in Bangalore, "I am yet to get details about the incident. Law will take its own course. Will ask police to initiate action against those involved".

He dismissed a suggestion that there was no law and order in Bellary, remarking "I don't think so. I have visited it seveal times".The five-member Survey of India team, which has been camping in Bellary, was holding discussions with forest and mines and geology department officials in the private hotel and the three representatives of TNR mining company, including Ganesh, were there to meet the team.

Police rushed to the spot and shifted the injured mine owners to a hospital.
The incident triggered panic in the city.

TRUTH IS REDDY BROS. Behind these ugly attacks. Yeddy will say I will investigate, what else he can say. His own Reddy Bros illegal mining money is used to buy voters in Karnataka. TRUTH ALWAYS comes last. Like Ayodya ADVANI Said Ayodya mosque demolition is the blackest day in his life, but the truth is that, he is the main cause of Ayodhya mosque demolition. Hence he lost heavily in his last election. MODI Said I have nothing to do with the massacre, TRUTH is that he is main culprit, whether he won election or Gujarat prospering is another issue. Politicians doesn't understand the evil things what they are doing always haunts them untill their death. Finally TRUTH will triumph. Ordinary citizens always knows the truth but they are helpless under clutches of dirty politicians selfishness. We have to plead GOD to clean our dirty politicians and bring good governess in our country.

This incident is unprecedented in the history of Karnataka. Fourth estate of democracy, Free Press is in danger. Is Bellary have seperate govt in Karnataka????

Total goonda raj in bellary. In broad daylight goondas are attacking with sticks sword.....and police and CM are not so serious about the happening.
CM while briefing press person told that he have no details about the incident and law will take it's own course!! CM have no control over Bellary and when he visit Bellary no incharge minister,DC,SP recieving him as (no protocol)we are witnessing in the visual meadia!!!

This is really a bad precedent and peace loving/believers in democracy were hurt by series of such kind of incident in Bellary.Tappal Ganaesh is the petitioner in Suprime Court of India with regarding to illeagal Mineing in Bellary.Govt of Karnata failed to give armed security for him.We are watching the drama of BJP govt and I belive if it can not maintain law and order in all part of the karnataka better to leave the Ruling Bench.
