Mangalore, Mar 29: Mandd Sobhann's hundredth monthly theatre, Sadan Shembor at Noreen and Ronald Mendonca amphitheater, Kalaangann, Shaktinagar, here on Easter Sunday April 4 will be special with Anuradha Paudwal, Konkani singer and veteran Bollywood playback singer gracing the occasion as chief guest.

Paudwal, a shy and introvert person hailing from a family where films and songs were a taboo, was very fond of music since her early age. She was attractive since her childhood, and the destiny, which gave her a sweet voice in place of the hoarse one when she was about five, during the period she suffered from pneumonia for 40 days, later took away her husband at a young age.  Anuradha, who accepted Lata Mangeshkar as her role model, was at the same time, critical about Mangeshkar family for their behaviour with her husband, Arun Paudwal, a music arranger working for S D Burman, a renowned music director of the time.

Paudwal, who refused to sing for several years, took up singing because of the support of her father-in-law. Her first Hindi film rendering was the Shiv Shloka for Amitabh-Jaya starrer, ‘Abhimaan’. Apart from singing for a number of Marathi films, she worked for various music directors like Nadeem-Shravan, S D Burman, Laxmikant-Pyarelal, Rajesh Roshan, Kalyanji-Anandji and Usha Khanna among others. She ruled late 80s and early 90s, mostly singing for Nadeem-Shravan and mainly playbacking songs for Madhuri. However, her greatest works in the form of devotional songs came during her long association with Gulshan Kumar of T-series. Paudwal is a rare singer with a tremendously gifted voice, high principles, and sweet manners.
